Grouping Objects

I have some object in a group so that in the scene window you have to twirl the arrow to see all of them. Now my assumption is that this is akin to a "folder" in photoshop, but when I turn off the main item, the sub-items are still visible. And when I move the main item, the sub-items stay put. Is there a way to get all elements in a group to obey the actions done to the top level?

My bad…some items were in fact not parented. I had saved the assembled item, a building, as a scene subject and thought that would group them all together, but it didn't.

There is a difference from a loaded Scene group file, like a building with sub parts and a true group. If you yourself create a Group in DAZ Studio it will function just as you need. Loaded Grouped scene sets were not created that way and do not hold the same information needed to move or hide all at once.

    Opps NM then...

And I learned the little X in the scene list makes all the parented items respond. Learn something new every day...

I guess that check/X box doesn't parent everything. So is there no way to turn on and off grouped items? As I'm rendering in layers for later compositing, it would be really handy to be able to turn off an entire parented city block, instead of one building at a time.

I have no Idea what your doing but a User created Group has a EYE that turns off the full Group. And to Create a Group you do not Parent items to each other, you do a Multi-Select in the Scene Tab and then Create the Group. Then you can MOVE the whole Group as one, Turn off the whole group at once or Open the Group and work with each part. You seem to be doing way more than needed.

Good to know. Daz should mimic Photoshop and just have a Folder option.

LOL!! 3D Mesh Space and 2D items are MUCH different and need handled differently.
