Ctrl-F

Why is it that sometimes when using Ctrl-F (Windows) to focus on an object, the camera will jump waayyyyyy far away, and other times it doesn't?

This tends to happen when the item(s) being framed are far from the centre of the universe (that is, 0, 0, 0) and usually depends on the angle - as I recall, try orbiting around the item so that you are looking towards the origin, then hit ctrl F again (if that doesn't work try spinning around so you are looking away from the origin - it's one or the other)..

    I'll play around with that.

    As always, thanks Richard.

I still haven't found any rhyme or reason as to how this works. Very frustrating.

One solution is to use the Surface Selection tool, pick any surface of the item you want to zoom in on, and then frame that.  It's not an elegant solution, but it works.

    I'll try that Sevrin, thanks.
