Editing objects

Hi all,
I'm currently using one of the staffs from Mystical Touch in a graphic novel project, and for a portion of the story, I need to be able to show the staff without the central orb.
Is there a simple way to edit this object to remove that sphere (and all the internal parts of it), by any chance? Transparencies probably won't be sufficient, because my art style uses "cartoon preview mode" as well, which negates transparencies. I'd need to be able to physically remove the orb from the staff.
Thanks for your time.
PS: I prefer to use Poser Pro, rather than DAZ Studio.

The Product Page for that item says it has the following morphs for the Orb :
The first one seems to be what you would need, do you see that in your install?
The only other way I can think of, if transparency wont work, is to take the OBJ into a modelling program, remove the Orb, save it out again with a new name, and alter the PZ2 file (also renamed) to call your version of the OBJ. That way you would have two versions of the staff, one as supplied, the other with no orb.

I think those morphs must be for another product, because I'm definitely not seeing them here... (attached)
Do you have any recommendations for the latter course of action, in terms of software? Is it something a relative layman could attempt or is this advanced work?
I looked at the Product Page again, and I discovered that I had this (Doh!)
The morphs refer to the Demon Staff only, and they work fine, the Orb goes away, and doesn't render. There are no morphs for the other staffs that I can see.
I am using DS and Hexagon, so I sent the prop over to Hex using the bridge, and it was very easy to remove the polygons making up the outer orb group, I sent it back to ds as a Prop, and this is what it looks like. It is easy enough to do in any modelling package I should think, then do as I suggested above (I was also using the Genesis version which is a .DAZ scene file, but the same thing should apply to the Poser format ones as well.
What modelling programs do you have available? If you need any help doing this, just ask.
The Poser Grouping Tool (and the DAZ Studio Geometry Edit Tool) should allow you to select the polygons and assign them to a new material, which you can then make transparent.
Where's the Geometry Edit Tool? I looked under tools and it's not there. Do you mean the Polygon Group Editor?
Tools > Geometry Editor
If it's not showing for you run the "Update and Merge Menus" script.
PGE is now the GET in the new Version of DAZ Studio Novica.
Oh. I haven't upgraded yet. Not going to for awhile :)
Well, because I'm the one who for six months had trouble (as I'm sure you'll recall) when I switched from 4.5 to the first 4.6 version. Crashing, CMS turning off constantly, not saving things. I almost quit DAZ because of the absolutely horrible experience with it. Mine is working fine at the moment and I have a LOT of custom setup that I just don't trust going poof based on everyone else's experiences. While I'm sure it will be fine, I'll have to back everything up / put this version on an external hard drive and keep it, and in the middle of too many things at the moment to bother with it. But I know you will be there if I do have problems :)
I for one hope they make that VERY clear the day they do that so those of us back a version or two for whatever reason can know to stop buying stuff here. [and not just the newest stuff, but any stuff because they tend to update files so it's the same difference].
I'm not sure how backward compatible the new version is. It may be fully compatible as far as I know. In the past items created in a newer version (rigging and such) did often need the version the item was saved in. That was all I meant. I have not checked this version and a older version as I'm only running the one instance of DS at this time, the newest.
I never said it would happen just that it maybe could. I simply do not know.
I'm pretty sure Free items in the past (ShareCG) only worked in the version they were made in or above. And some sold ones as well.

I still have previous versions, I always put them on an external hard drive so if the next one doesn't work well for me, I can go back. But I understand your sentiments :) I don't like being forced into changing what I use, but when technology moves forward, I'll eventually take advantage of it.
Eventually sure ... but in the meantime ...
Actually most of the stuff I've bought like hair or clothing [which I don't know which version it was made in] worked in whatever I'm running.
Anything needing a 'plugin" does NOT. So when buying those, one must be running the latest 'cause the latest plugin whatever is only going to be recognized in the newest. However once bought, as the programs get revised, the plugins also get revised and one needs to update 'all' their plugins so everything will work again. That means combing through 2 accounts for me. [and I haven't the heart to even suggest to CS to look for that 3rd or 4th that allegedly merged before and who knows what happened, 'cause I know I've got more 'very old' stuff which are not in the present libraries]
