Helluuu!
I'm Meo and I'm new to Daz 3d but not to 3d.
I'm in my second of 3 years of computer animation. I really like modeling and I'm looking for a way to make a little bit of money doing what I already love while in school to get a head start on paying off the mountain of debt I'll surely be in! HAH!

So I've downloaded Daz3D and I'm wondering how one starts to model/ create assets for the program. Let me know!

Salutations!

All your modeling will take place in a modeling program. Rigging it and setting it up for use in DAZ Studio will happen in DAZ Studio.

What is it you think you may want to start building?

I already know how to model. I'm just wondering how one starts to model for DAZ.
I like environments, and clothing. :)

You save your finalized model in obj format. Import that to DAZ Studio and apply your textures through the surface tab

So I just choose what to model and I just...do it?
and we make textures for what we model?
is there a guide somewhere I can read for whats needed and the procedures?

There is some info in the Doc's center. It is not all fully up to date with the new version. Some tools have changed but its good basic info. Here is a link to the basic rigging stuff, none rigged stuff you can just pretty much build to scale and texture and call it done.
    http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/userguide/creating_content/rigging/start

As for what is needed, any Mesh modeler your happy with that saves in object format. Any program you like that does UVing, needed for texturing but I think you know that. Any 2D art program to create the Texture files with. And Time. I need much time as I'm just a novice at creating items.
