Hair Shaping not Working

Hello everybody,

I sadly have another issue with Daz3D that I cannot resolve. This time, it's about hair.

I've dowonloaded several hairstyles that feature shaping options, such as https://www.daz3d.com/karla-hair-for-genesis-8-females.

The shaping options are there but when I try to apply them - nothing. I've also checked my parameters and shaping window but do not find any options that could be used in a comparable fashion

I've tried reinstalling the hair and to use it on different figures but that did not resolve the issue, sadly. Strangely enough, I have similar issues with https://www.daz3d.com/pascale-hair-for-genesis-3-8-female-s and https://www.daz3d.com/matilda-hair-for-genesis-8-females, among others.

Any ideas what I could do to fix this?

Many thanks and best wishes,
LBSTHL

Do you have slliders on the hair, and do they work?

I haven't found any in the parameters or shaping tab.

If they are there, then I don't know where to find them :(

I don't have Karla hair, but I do have Matilda. It's morph dials can be found under Actor on the parameters tab. Looking at your screenshot, I don't see any similar morphs for your hair, how are you installing it?

    Heya chris,

Thank you very much for your reply, I think we're onto something here. I do NOT have this blow menu for Matilda hair. In fact, I do not have the ACTOR tab when I've selected Matilda hair at all.

I've installed them (Matilda and the other hairsets) with DAZ Install Manager (64 bit). Never had any problems with it so far.

Go into DAZ Install Manager, find Matilda Hair (or the other hairs that have this issue) in the "Installed" tab and click the triangle on the right. Choose "Show installed files." You should get a list of installed files, starting with the morphs (that go into the "\data\WindField\Matilda Hair\Matilda Hair Genesis 8 Female\Morphs\WindField\Base" folder below your "My DAZ3D Library" folder). Are they there?

I found the folders (thanks, didn't know I could check that in install manager!) and found a lot of morphs, yes. So I guess the files are there...

    That's weird.

How about selecting the hair in Daz Studio and opening the "Shaping" tab - that's another place you should see the relevant morphs.

In DIM, are those files gray or blue (the blue ones link to the the file location, gray means DIM installed the files but they're no longer there)?

It's a really nice hair, with lots of options.  Once installed properly, there's all this under Actor.

Thank you all for your replies!

Chris, Sevrin: Sadly, it's not under SHAPING either. In fact, none of the sub menus from Sevrin's screenshots is there, making me certain that something's off with the installation.

Strangely enough, all of them appear there in blue - so they should be installed correctly, right?

Click on one of them and post the full path.

    Here you go:

    • /data/WindField/Karla Hair/Karla Hair Genesis 8 Female/Morphs/WindField/Base/Bangs Style2.dsf

All of the files should be on harddrive D, not C if that matters at all. This is set as standard and has worked for all files so far without any problem.

    Hi again!

Did the full, copy-pasted path reveal anything about my problem?

  • jestmartjestmart Posts: 4,449

That is not the full path.

  • LBSTHLLBSTHL Posts: 20

    Hi jestmart!

Hmmm... well, that's indeed not the full path!

And you know what, this me look behind where these files actually were. And for whatever reason, it seems as if they were partly installed on a whole different drive.

I copied them back from drive C to drive D, where I store all my DAZ stuff and voila! Problem solved! :D I'm so happy about this!

Thanks a lot to everybody who made me look this stuff up!
