How to export just the head for morphing and then how to import it again as a morph.

I can't figure out how to export just the head of the character. I read somewhere that I was supposed to do it by switching off the eye-shaped icons by everything but the head, but I wasn't able to switch off all the body parts in this way.

I am trying to export the head to make a morph in another software. After I make it, how do I import it back and apply it to the character? Thanks.

Which figure? Genesis and other TriAx figures are single-skinned - you need to work on the whole mesh, leaving the areas you don't want affected by the morph in the base state. Always set the Mesh Resolution to Base before exporting an OBJ for morph making, assuming it has SubD applied, otherwise it won't work as a morph.

Michael 4. I know it's possible to export just the head, because I've done it from Poser. I usually use Poser, I'm clueless about Daz, I don't even know what SubD is. I have to do this particular morph from Daz because I am using Sculptris, which is apparently completely incompatible with Poser. So my first question is how to export the head, my second is whether there is anything special I need to know about using Sculptris with Daz, and my third is how to import and apply the morph. Thanks.

Also please tell me the exact settings to use when importing and exporting for this purpose. Thanks.

It may still be a good idea to export the whole figure, or work on the base mesh, as DS can be picky about importing partial meshes as morphs (I've found it reliable with Morph Loader Advanced rather than Morph Loader Pro). If you hide the parts youd don't want, either with the eye icons in the Scene pane or by selecting them all and using the Visible button in the Parameters pane, then make sure the option to Ignore Invisible Nodes is set you should get just the piece you want.

I'm not very familiar with Sculptris, but one thing I do know is that you should not use its symmetry option as that deletes half the model and makes a copy, which of course messes up the vertex order that morphs depend on.

Thanks. Where is this "Ignore Invisible Nodes" located? (I'm really not very familiar with Daz at all.)

It should be in the OBJ export options - though by default, in the past, that has opened really tiny so you've had to expand it to see much, and then click the Show Individual Settings button:

Thank you. Making progress. My problem now is that when I import the morph back into Daz, I can't find it, even though it tells me it has been created. I assume it would be under Parameters? But I open up all the tabs, and can't find it anywhere. I would like to see whether it works or not. If I can't find it, does that mean it didn't work, or am I just not looking in the right place?

Did you use the Pro or Advanced version of Morph Loader to bring the morph in?

Tried it with both of them.

Well, having asked because I thought they used different paths in fact both default to placing the morphs in Morphs/Morph Loader, wheer Morphs is a top-level group (not under Actor or the like).

Ok, it isn't appearing. This time I tested by loading another morph first with the morph loader, one that I made in Poser, and it appeared in the location you said, and it worked fine. So then I loaded the one from Sculptris again, and looked for it in the same place, and it still isn't there.
I read on a forum that Sculptris only works on Genesis, and not on the Generation 4 figures, so I'm assuming that's the reason it isn't showing up. Anyway, thanks for your help.
