Which software for making clothing and architecture?
Would like to take things one step further by trying to make some clothes for my characters and perhaps one day in the far future create 3D architecture, props etc.
Would anybody be able to point me in the right direction eg. what kind of software, plug-ins, etc? I chanced upon Blender which seems like a very interesting open source software but I am sure that it takes plug-ins or other software to start learning from absolute scratch how to make outfits for my Daz characters...

Hexagon, Blender, Marvelous Designer, etc... If upou are going to make clothes, read up on rigging.
THANK YOU! Definitely very excited to start learning... I feel like the creative juices and willingness are both available but I am so sorely lacking in tools and knowledge!
Would these also be the same starting blocks for creating architecture eg. rooms, buildings, aircrafts etc?
A mesh is a mesh, no matter which 3D program created it. Try a few demo versions, and see which one is easiest for you to work with — this is very much personal preference, you won't know which is best for you until you've tried it.
I think Marvelous Designer for clothing. The stuff I've seen other people do in the MD thread here is just amazing... totally professional looking.
For architecture, Blender will be as good as anything else, better is certain cases, but unless you're making everything from scratch, you'll have to consider what the models you want to tweak are designed in for things to work perfectly every time. Obviously, you'll see a lot of Maya and 3DS Max, but do you really want to pay for and work in Autodesk products?
On second thought, I would just learn Blender, and learn how to fix anything that might not load up perfectly as an OBJ.
Thank you SpottedKitty.
@TheMysteryIsThePoint thanks so much for the insights too... I did come across Marvelous Designer... and also chanced upon Blender and Cloth Weaver... I think I definitely should begin with Blender as open source softwares often have amazing add-ons by very active and inspired members. Really looking forward to making some special clothes for my characters! I wonder which software most of the designers around here utilise.
Good luck!
Marvelous designer is pretty Marvelous for clothes. For architecture the path of least resistance for me was Sketchup. Once you get the hang of it it's really a very productive modelling tool for this kind of thing (import the mesh, do materials and lighting in Daz of course).
I've been told that Silo, also, is a very good software, well supported and available on all platforms. It's not free, but not even at an absurd cost

When it comes to software trials for paid programs, it is best to only try one at a time so you can get the most out of each and not have to worry about the 30 days running out to soon before you get a chance to try everything out as most companies now require you to have an account with them as to keep track of your trial period.
For Silo, download the 2.3.x version for a full 30 day trial. The 2.5.x is only 7 days. Nice thing about Silo is that even old videos from 5 years ago or more are still valid as the UI and keyboard short cuts have not changed.
Blender might be your best choice however as it is free and you can take the time you need to learn. when looking for videos, I would recommend starting with vids that were made for the verison of blender you are using as things can change quikly in Blender. However, 2.8.3 is their first LTS (Long Term Support) version and would be a good place to start. Even I have to admit that I find the new UI in Blender to be very reasonable.
Over all, you will need to try out different things as each program is different and not all of them will appeal to you.
Thank you all for the precious insights! I think I might give Blender a first shot; found a couple of YouTube videos for help. Am very excited to especially start making custom clothes for my characters!
I'm learning Blender because it does pretty much everything- but as a result, the learning curve is steep. On the other hand, it's free. The big problem with it at this point is that it does not love all features of Daz, so you are limited to .OBJ or .FBX format to transfer files, and the FBX end- which can include clothes, poses, and animations- seems to have rigging issues, especially with G8. There is a free add-on, Diffeomorphic, which is supposed to translate everything from Daz to Blender, but I've been trying to make it work for the last 48 hours without success, so there's that.
If you're making clothes, though, that shouldn't be an issue- send an OBJ of your morphed character into Blender, make the clothes there- it has a clothing tool that works pretty well, though not as hot as Marvelous Designer (but again- free), and then you can send the clothing back as an OBJ into Daz. Making the clothing autofit might be more challenging, I haven't tried it.
Unfortunately, I want to render in Blender, because I can build everything there and it has beautiful, and fast, rendering, but apparently I won't be able to bring along the rigging or poses from Daz and will have to rebuild all that in Blender. So Diffeomorphic is making me cry...
Witch one is like the best one here's a list pick witch one is best.
1.Blender
2.Zbrush
3.Cinema 4D
4.Marvelous Designer
