Rendering with both CPU and GPU checked

Is there any benefit at all in doing so? I'm on a ryzen 7 3700X with a GTX1070ti and 32go of RAM.

On your system no. I'd set it to just use the GPU and even turn off CPU fallback. More than likely if you have a scene bigger than 8Gb then you'd better better off optimizing the scene to fit in 8 and then rendering.

  • Thanks for the tip. Would you turn it off for interactive too?

    Yes.

  • Then it's done. One thing I have wondered about in the same vein is, how do you measure how much vram is taken by what you loaded in your scene? I know that using GPUZ I can see how much my entire system will use but that isn't very helpful.

There isn't a way. GPU-Z is pretty close if you monitor it before the render starts and then compare.
