CMS Paths in Directory Manager Question
Is having more than one path in this manager for CMS to reference a bad thing?
I have one path going to public and then another to my user folder.
I am asking because the second time where the icons of new purchases are not showing up in my content library under products where you see an alphabetical listing of all products. This occurred when DIMM was updated.
The order of when things occurred.
1) One day I decide to buy new items form Daz Store.
2) Open up Dimm to install new content
3) There is an update for DIMM. I accept the update.
4) Update completes. restart DIMM
5) Install new content from purchase
6) Closed Dimm then Opened Daz Studio
7) Browse Content Library >> Products
8) Select a product I just purchased and the icons do not show up. In fact none of the items from just purchased products when selected, their icons do not show up. However previously purchased product's icons do show.
Previously stated this is the second time it has occurred and Jaderail helped me.
I have deleted the database files the hidden program data folder.
I have reset the database
I have reimported meta data and it does reimport... However close Daz Studio and reopen it and it is as if you never reimported the meta data. The root parent node in the content library is blank or no child nodes as if you just reset it. Its as if it did not save what it just imported.
Now I am wondering if this Directory Manager should only reference one path... one path for daz and one for poser.
But If you look at my screen shot I have one for me and one for public and I am thinking that more than one path is confusing CMS.
I appreciate your time and feedback any thoughts on the matter.
Thanks

Those paths look OK, but do they match the paths you have set in DIM? Click the gear icon in DIM to get to preferences, then go to the Installation tab and take a screenshot of the folder list.
The References and number are not a issue... Here is my Full paths in use at this time in DAZ Studio... they all work.
Do you have an example product name that isn't showing up? I was under the impression (although I could be mistaken) that not all products will be listed in the alphabetized Products category, although you should still be able to find the content for them in your library wherever they end up within the Categories category.
Sean - These are common products that would normally show up such as poses and hair.
Richard - Screen shot attached. Paths appear to match.
Jaderail - Glad the paths are an issue. Must be something else.
Hope you there is help for this.
New order of operations in attempt to fix...
1) Turn off CMS Service
2) Delete Database files
3) Turn On CMS Service
4) Load Daz Studio and Reimport Metadata (Screen Print 1)
5) Meta Data finishes and shows all the products. I purchased Juni hair last Thursday where I encountered a DIMM update. It didn't show in products after the install (I am guessing the DIMM update is to blame), but now it shows after reimporting Meta Data. (Screen Print 2) ...and you would think "Hey its fixed!", but its not.
6) Close Daz Studio
7) Load Daz Studio and again all products are gone! (Screen Print 3)
Its as if it did not save or remember ever doing any of the reimport work.
With the DAZ Studio open and Running NOW go to task manager and check if the CMS is still running. It appears your CMS is getting turned off by the OS on open of DAZ Studio. That does happen. The fix is still to set the CMS as an allowed service. On boot the CMS is not at LOAD just on. AT Open of DAZ studio it goes to Load and the OS may see that as not allowed.
ok... so how do you set the permissions on a service so that an Daz Studio can use it? Because my CMS is running and I have restarted it and I have loaded Daz Studio over and over again with no success.
This would be a good feature to add to the program to either programmatically set the permissions or have documentation that tells the user how to do it.
I added two screenshots to help.
Looks like there are no dependencies set and daz studio and service depend upon each other.
First things first as I asked did you check in Task Manager for the ContentManagementService and make sure it Is running with DAZ Studio open? If so then we move on. But not until then.
EDIT: The CMS should install properly from the Start and not need extra steps to configure. But software can not be built that works 100% on every type of PC configuration that I know of. We will get you going soon I hope.
This is at the end of a log file report after reimporting all meta data and then attempting to convert the cms from valentine to postgresql cms. When operating system first loads I am not able to delete the database files. I have turn off the cms service first before I can delete the database files.
Here is copy/pasted log file end of file sample:

How do process1423 meta data file and not locate them?
So you stopped (Valentina) CMS, deleted the database files, then started CMS and Re-Imported metadata, and get those errors for every item? Where is your content installed?
I thank you Mike for your time and response.
Per post 4 above my path is C:/Users/Public/Documents/My DAZ 3D Library
There's definitely something stopping or blocking CMS. Try this:
1) Make sure DAZ Studio is closed -- check Task Manager under Processes and make sure dazstudio.exe is not listed.
2) Install PostgreSQL CMS, but do NOT install the "PostgreSL CMS From Valentina Conversion"
3) Start DS and see if Content Library shows Products and Categories (even if they're empty)
4) Re-Import metadata
5) Close and restart DS and see if it sticks.
OK I will follow your instructions to the letter but to set it up I will need to remove the conversion and I already have other installed. I assume that will be ok. I will let you know what becomes of it.
An update...
Well to my surprise I didn't need to implement your steps. I will however follow them should my system fail again. This last meta data import despite the negative log file report managed to make all my products stick. I was able to close Daz Studio and open it again and all my products persisted under the products menu. Seeing that surprised me! I will keep an eye on it and keep your steps to close to me in the event it fails again. I am not sure what made it work but what can I say was different this time around was installing the protégé-sql both RDMS and the conversion portion.
I will keep on it Mike and I appreciate your time and responses again.
