Fitting G8F hair on a short G3F character

I'm trying to fit a G8F hair on G3F. No problem until then. However, when I modify my character height to, let's say50%, the hair doesn't follow and just stays in the air.

Is there a way to correctly fit the hair on the shorter character?

I've already tried to manually move and position the hair and parent it to the head. However, the hair doesn't follow head movements correctly.

Which hair is it, and how are you trying to fit it?

It is the Classic Long Wavy Hair by Linday.

  • You parent the hair to the head before shaping the figure? How are you adjusting the height of the figure?

With G8 <-> G3 hair you can usually do this (taken from this tutorial https://www.deviantart.com/sickleyield/journal/Tutorial-Convert-Clothing-G3-to-G8-G8-to-G3-686682065):

    • Make sure nothing is selected in the scene.
    • Load the hair, if Daz offers to fit it to somebody, say no.
    • Select the hair.
    • Choose Edit > Figure > Scene Identification...
    • The bottom line, Preferred Base, will say /Genesis 8/Female. Click the [...] button next to it and choose /Genesis 3/Female instead. Click [Accept].
    • Now you should be able to fit the hair to your figure just as if it was native G3F hair (because that's what Daz now thinks it is. The two generations are similar enough for this to work). It should follow changes in height just like a G3F hair would.

If you try this technique with Vertigo Ponytail, you'll see it doesn't work...

Yeah, just tested this out. Couldn't get it to work with changing the scene ident or by just parenting. I guess this is just one of the GF8 items that isn't backwards compatible.

This is most likely happening because the hair has an FBMHeight morph. The height morphs in G3F and G8F are not equivalent.

The fix is to delete the FBMHeight morph from the hair.
The best way to do it is to load the hair without fitting it to G3F.
In the parameters pane find the FBMHeight morph. If it's hidden you will need to turn on both show hidden and edit mode in the parameters tab.
With edit mode enabled for parameters, right click on FBMHeight and delete the morph.

Now when you fit the hair to G3F either with autofit or using the above method, the height should follow correctly.
If you delete the morph after already having fitted the hair to G3F you will have to perform an extra step in the scene tab. With the hair selected, click the drop-down menu and select assets-clear generated morphs.

ps tested with this hair and this is indeed the issue.

I was unable to fit GF3Selena Hair to a shorter or taller height of GF8 other than the defaut height. Your solution fixed it. Thanks a lot!
