Adding a figure to the library

I was wondering, once I load V4 and then load my add on figure (she has morphs, Mat textures, clothing etc) is there a way I would be able to save this figure rather than remaking her every time I need to use her? I'm fairly new to Daz software, so hopefully its not to dumb a question. I saw some of the tutorials but didn't see any mention of how she would be saved in this manner.

    File>Save As > Scene Subset

That will save as a DAZ Studio file - it won't, without fiddling, appear in the Poser Format libraries. It's also worth noting that if you add new morphs for Victoria 4 (new expansions that require the updater to be run, that is) they won't be added to the saved figure.

"new expansions that require the updater to be run,"

Could you elaborate on that a bit? This relates to my other thread on setting up files. What is the "updater"? Is there a way to make such customizations permanent so every time that character is loaded it appears as it was customized?

Part of this is just a general understanding of how figures work. Am I right to assume that the "Micheal" I have is simply a customized genesis figure? And that if I further adjust that figure (changing the shape of the nose, for instance) it could be saved that way (maybe call it "Doug") and then imported into any project?

When you install new morphs for V4, the figure gets updated to include the new morph dials. This is done automatically if you install using DIM. However, this only applies to the Victoria 4.2..cr2, it won't add those morphs to saved scene subsets.
