Installing Photoshop brush packs through DIM

Okay, I just bought Tombstone Brush Kit on the BYOB 8-items-for-$2.99 sale, with the plan to load them in Paint.net, which has a pluggin to use Photoshop brushes.  (I don't actually have Photoshop.)  Anyway, the product has a DIM installer, and the DIM has in fact dutifully downloaded the zip, and TRIES to install it, but then it complains I don't have the right path set for it, and ultimately skips it.

No problem, I said to myself, I'll just create an arbitrary folder to have it install these to, and give the DIM that path.

I made the path, on the second HDD I have all my Daz Studio stuff stored on, went to copy-paste the path to the Path field in the pane the DIM presents me when it tries to install the content... but after I click OK, it just pops me right back to the same pane again.  I also notice it does not seem to let me do anything with the three apparent dropdown selectors there, above the Path field:  Name, Version, and Bit.  I click those, and nothing comes up under them.

Not a major biggy, since apparently I CAN just manually unzip the package and install the contents to my folder of choice, but it's wierd that DIM won't let me manually set a path for this stuff.  Or is there some wort of workaround I can do to make it accept that path?

What sort of fake directory?  In my case, I simply made a folder at E:\Public Documents\Photoshup stuff\ and tried pointing DIM to that.  Do you mean make a fake Photoshop program directory inside C:Progream Files (x86)\ or something?

    yes

you would need the folder structure, I keep meaning to look on my other PC so I can do it

if you are lucky someone else with Photoshop installed can post the folder structure order and names

I will eventually when I use my other PC if nobody else does because I need to know too but was not planning to today

Once made, can I then redirect DIM to let me install the brushes somewhere else?

In DIM go to settings (the gear in the top right) > Advanced Settings > Applications, click the + sign in the lower left, create an entry for Photoshop/CC/64-bit and ad the path you want the brushes installed to.  You don't need a phony photoshop.exe, just whatever folder you want the brushes installed to.

  • Thank you, that sorted it. :D :D

I'd swear I've tried that - I even have a blank directory where I'd have tried .. let's see if it will work now ..!

And yes it did, so no idea how I got it wrong last time!
