artofallan's Renders and Musings

Hello all,

I recently discoverd Daz3d and fell in love with it. I do have a minor CG background and currently work in the animation industry( mainly as a designer).
I have to say WOW, sometimes it's a little frustrating trying to communicate certain lighting scenarios to the team when you agaisnt the clock, and have to paint everything out.

Here are some initial renders I did (I was surprised a lot of my knowledge from other programs can be easily translated to Daz3D).

Thus far I've been posing and using Aiko 3. I picked the model up during the sale since the bundle had quite a number of items already part of it!
I do admit, I've been spoiled when I played around with Gen3 & 8 stuff with the smart content, (it's not too bad, but sometimes I find things in unexpected places while browsing the library).

Here's hoping that A3 gets more love in the future. Would love to see a port over to gen 3 or 8.

Welcome to Daz3D and Daz Studio!

Your A3 renders are cute! :D Aiko 3 still has quite a few fans, I think. You can still find some resources for her at the Poser Daz Wiki. There are also a couple of threads dedicated to Aiko 3 and Hiro floating around here and in the Commons that pop up every once in a while.

I think she's great, but yeah, if you're not used to the old school Poser file hierarchy for older figures, poses, and clothing it can be a little more challenging to work with her vs working with the newer Genesis figures.

I'm glad you're having fun with Daz3D! Welcome aboard! laugh

Here's one of the threads dedicated to Aiko 3, I'm sure they'd probably love to see some of your A3 renders: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/8629/gen3-aiko-and-hiro-appreciation-thread

@Divamakeup: Wow thanks for pointing me to these amazing resources! Spent at least half an hour browsing through the poser daz wiki.

I'll post my renders on the thread you mentioned :^) !

I was playing around more a little bit trying to understand more about ghost lights. I seem to have no placed the opacity cutoff low enough here (still trying to understand how iray works)

Oh pretty! I love the colors!!

And yeah, the Poser Daz wiki is fantastic. Lots of great resources. When I first started learning Daz Studio I was on a pretty tight budget so that Poser Daz Wiki was a God-send for me. These days I'm not on nearly as tight of a budget but for a lot of the older figures there really isn't much that is available for purchase - so I still use the Wiki a lot to find stuff for Aiko 3 and Victoria 4. I have spent more than one weekend there hunting down assets for older content. lol It's like a fun treasure hunt.

Ghost Lights can be tricky, I think. If you want something a bit more "plug and play" I highly recommend HDRI lighting. HDRI Haven has a ton of really nice free HDRIs.
