Why are my G3 characters semi-transparent?
I can't solve this one, I hope someone can. My genesis 3 characters suddenly decide to render semi-transparent. I'm rendering with 3delight on a mac. It seems to happen when there are multiple objects in a scene, but once it happens, I can't figure out how to stop it. With one character taken from a scene where this happened, I experimented by removing the entire scene. For some reason, as soon as I added back her dress, she went transparent, but other clothes didn't have that effect. When I recreated her as a new model in a new project, this hasn't happened (but if I load the saved character, it does) - and I can't keep creating the same characters every time this happens. Is there some setting that changes in certain circumstances, that I can change to make my character fully visible again?

Sounds odd. Perhaps the Opacity/Cutout settings are being copied from the clothing to the figure (no idea why that would happen) But you can check by looking in the Surfaces panel (with your character selected), find the Surfaces material and find the Cutout slider. It should be 100%, if not change it to 100%. Mouse over the title bar of the slider and three icons should appear; right click the padlock icon and select lock. Maybe that will solve the problem until you can find out why it is happening. Good luck.
I kept working on this - I still don't understand why it happens sometimes and not others but I've resolved it by turning on progresive rendering in 3delight. I have no idea why that worked and if anyone knows it would be useful for future reference.
Thanks
and thanks for the response IsaacNewton - but part of my frustration was that no transparency settings appeared to have changed - and the character looked solid in the daz viewport, so it appeared to be related to the rendering process somehow.
Check if you accidentally have turned on motion blur (rendersettings advanced). That can cause these things to happen if you don't have any actual motion on the timeline.
Thanks. Had the same problem for some reason with G8 figures. Switched off motion blur. Works ok now. (Weird)
