Thanks for pointing these out. The character zips include both .max and .obj formats for the characters. There are no .mtl or actual texture maps that I can see. The meshes are pretty dense! The workmanship is beautiful. It should be possible to fit some of the outfit pieces to Daz or Poser figures. There is a lot of concept art, figure renders, and objs for some of the characters' weapons including a rifle, a sword, and a staff. Nice find!
Make sure the width is no wider than 800 on your image and proportion is locked.
Too bad no .mtl files. The obj I tried had 600K vetrices.
I only downloaded one file, and it had no textures. The model was 800k verts/polys, and no rig.
It says in the OP: Character models to download and rig for yourself
Yes, I know, you can't export a rig with .obj files anyway.
The model comes in two formats, .obj and .max. I don't have 3ds max, so I can't open it, and I can't tell if there's hidden textures or a hidden rig.
there are no bitmaps looking in notepad
ÿØÿá is usually the first thing
and Google tells me MAX format does not save them internally that's why they have a material file to reference them
there are paths etc in them if you look in notepad
so no textures provided
think these are for 3D printing
this wouldn't work either
https://sourceforge.net/projects/resourcextract/
tried changing extensions
subsequently I don't think there are any in any of the MAX related files provided
some helpful references for the keener polypainters

I don't even play games but I did find one way to texture them

ended up spliting in groups and projection painting each mesh, even then had to add surfaces as overlapping UV's
roughly rigged using much joint rotation, translation baking on g8f rig

not really a lot of use to me and only posting on facebook not my Youtube channel because of IP issues, still the exercise of using Spotlight to paint textures a good one for learning skills.
Thanks Wendy, never heard of Projection Painting before. I don't have ZBrush but I think Photoshop can do similar, based on this https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/3d-painting-photoshop.html
Maybe one of our PS experts can do a little tut on this, if it works.

another video, gets easier the next figure one does,
so does the transfer utility rigging, his fingers are rigged!
faces will still be unlikely
Could be that was the intended mapping method. I was looking for something more elaborate!
the Cinematic I made with the ones I rigged
(the last one a feeble attempt at fitting the feljordian armour to G8M )
What are .mat files? Is that short for material, and if so, is it possible to import them into Blender? Also, I noticed that when importing as OBJ into Blender that the UV unwraps are completely awful. There are no seams or sharps, and it's broken into a million pieces. I do appreciate the fact that they have the mesh seperated into logically distinct objects though.
I found the best results with doing materials and texturing myself, it did take me around 2 days but it looks decent. It's made in Blender with Mixamo for the Auto rigger.
My final render I made with the model is here: https://www.therookies.co/projects/20265
Impressive, but if that's the end result, it's probably better to just create your own textures materials. That's what I've been doing, and it's actually pretty fun.
How to use these model as Genesis 8?
Link to texture https://www.deviantart.com/mariajay2015/gallery
those are just the same images as on the Riot site
and FreakazoidRobot if you are still around, I have since learned how to use Spotlight in Zbrush to get better results projecting textures but frankly would not bother with trademarked models I cannot use
