I had some trouble wtih this one. That glass really distorted Owen. Even dialing down the refraction made him really thick. I had to move him super close to the the tube edge, but he's still quite big and thick.

Can you not alter the refraction index on the glass shader?      I am not familiar with DS shaders  but I can do it in Bryce. no refraction is 100 and then dialling up from there gives various levels, for example water is 133.

Yes you can and I did. It was worse before with him looking like a beluga. It depends I guess on the size of the tank and curve of the glass and where he is standing. When he stands in the center he looks like the Michelin man.  I even tried making the glass other clear material like plastic or water.

  • I’m curious about the tear product how they look on men. Only one promo with bloody tears so hard to tell.

Poor Owen. sad Are the aliens going to perform terrible experiments on him?

Also, gotta ask: Is Boyd's appearance based on a real person? In some pictures, he's the spitting image of an almost-famous inspirational blogger.

Owen has been experimented on.... which is why he stops aging at 27, has a third spare lung and unusual skin. Unfortunately the aliens who remake Owen are colorblind which is why he is so fair so white. They live underground and do not have color perception.

No Boyd’s resemblance to that blogger is purely coincidental. Boyd is supposed to be a cute blonde sexpot as  his body was designed to be ultra cute and well...appealing... that is Boyd.

The original picture I used for Boyd was a handsome model. Some of the features are similar but he really has changed quite a bit since his original concept.

Boyd  can also adjust his own eye color since his irises are synthetic and his skin tone as well. They don’t have the tech to auto adjust hair color in the future. But they have color changing dyes, skin dyes, and moving tattoos.

Boyd hams things up in order to convince Owen to remain in the cabin. I enjoyed using the dforce laundry. It was nice to dforce something that simulated so quickly. There was another red sock but it dforce itself behind the headboard. So realistic! I used the prehistoric hdri for the dome. Love that set. Housekeeping isn’t Boyd’s strong suit..

Ignoring the two hot men for a second, the sock on the elephant is great!

Now back to the two hot men...mmm.

  • That dforceable laundry set is great. I don’t know why Boyd’s socks are red but yes, Owens Baby packy is wearing it.

this new banner sale offer for 65 percent off with purchase of new item had me purchasing a number of cool vehicles, that’s a great offer and worth checking out.

Wish I'd seen the dForce Laundry set earlier, but I missed it somehow. Still, according to its readme, it'll be out of new-item status on September 25 or 26, so it'll likely be included in the final catch-up or if KA puts out a product in the last week of the overall sale.

I like the look of Polish's stuff, but the shader work is just so weirdly inconsistent (a mix of Iray and 3Delight shaders on items theoretically meant for one or the other), and a lot of it is really heavyweight in the workspace. (There's a thread somewhere with people complaining about the Cyberpunk Subway station.)

Yes, I passed on the cyberpunk station because it is memory intenstive. I did get the police vehicle, and the weapons combination pack with poses, oh, the laundrymat  cafe, because I like the idea....For some reason, I enjoy laundry scenes, and that looks like a fun concept.

I have the laundromat cafe, as well; that's where I first discovered the shader weirdness. Everything that isn't emissive is Studio Default; every emissive is Iray Uber, which basically means that it doesn't entirely work in either 3Delight or Iray. I think at some point, I just selected every surface and converted them to Iray Uber, and then tinkered with or reshadered a few to get them to look better.

That said, it is a fun concept, and I don't regret buying it. I just wish I'd known beforehand how they operated.

  • I wish surfaces were better controlled and tested. I’ve ran into non Iray surfaces on quite a few models marketed as Iray products. Better guidelines for creators should be in place.

Myself as well & the problem I had last week of not being about to get the Manga Style & Visual Style 3DL shaders working on the model's eyes was even though I loaded the original 3DL material sets for the original models the eye surfaces still had iRay materials.

Also there are sometime 3DL surfaces in original store products that refuse to get converted to iRay surfaces using the DAZ Uber Iray surface converter preset or similar presets. I have to resort to trying different iRay surfaces presets until I find one that causes the surfaces to get converted, often it'll be a preset for MEC4D's iRay PBS vol 2 materials that will successfully convert so I always try the 'PBS Surface Reset' preset first.

Your characters are living a very unusual and interesting life, for sure! laugh

  • Yes, life is certainly interesting in the future!

this thread will likely be closed in the matter of a couple of posts, since the forum limit is 100 pages but I’ll create a new one so the adventures will continue.

Here is my test results from the "Realistic Tears from Genesis 3 & 8 product. I removed the black color of the tears and replaced them with a light blue. I may try entirely clear next and see what happens.

How this works is the product is a geo shell with textures applied to it. The vast majority of the shaders are setup automatically for the ladies or lads who like to wear heavy eyemakeup. The reason for this, is by default the tears are dark with smeary black makeup. You are instructed to alter the default texture with colors to match eye makeup.

Unfortunately for me, there are only 3 natural colored tears options. The rest are 12 mascara meltdown options, and 3 blood from eye options.   Fortunately, you can alter the color of the premades to suit your taste. Just finding something that looks good is the challenge.  I'm actually surprised there aren't more natural tear options, since there are more humans who don't wear mascara than there are humans who do.

The included instructions tell you to alter refraction, and change refraction weight.

So, here are two more. The default option, and Natural option. Both still seem.... Dark. The first might be good for a Harley Quinn Style character.

  • The tears do have a nice shape to them, but you're right about the darkness.

Yeah I worked at it but I can’t seem to get them clear enough to be plausible on a face that isn’t dirty or made up . Maybe I’m just tired. I’ve always had a bit of trouble with geoshell.

I've found that white plastic works better - in octane, anyway.  Iray may work differently, but try turning the opacity down to 0, it may actually work.

Looks like they are crying with mascara on. I looked at the product but decided not to buy but I did notice the ad copy had renders for mascara laden tears & non-mascara laden tears so maybe you chose the wrong preset?

If you have the public pool that was a freebie a couple of months ago try copying it's materials over to the tears. I bet they'd look good as tear water.

  • The set includes 12 mascara tears. 3 natural tears and 3 tears that are bloody.   You can’t apply a shader or it changes the geo shell. The only thing you can do to alter the appearance of the tear is to change the base color and adjust two settings.

i will look again but it seems to work with the rest of the figure being masked and the tears being the only color to show through.

The new Z sport  Motorbike Poses are fun to apply to men. Some require some adjustment though. =-)  I do wish the tires on this bike were... Larger.

And my last render for the night. This is owen wearing V4 skis.

I had to place them manually, since they are parented to his feet. They recolored nicely with iray shaders.

I was hoping to make some ski poses, but these may be too difficult to manipulate. The outfit is kitbashed together.

Boyd does pinup stuff periodically for the guild especially for charity but he always has time to make some special pics for his guy.

The guild  has a pretty good PR campaign underway... As most humans tend to think they are gross brains floating in tanks (which they kinda are) or some kind of robot super intelligence. Allowing humans to see the body liberated as complete beings with thoughts and feelings helps humans of the future relate. It also sells more calendarswink
