Message: Cannot find the M4 support folder

I re-imported metadata. No difference.

Went to install manager and uninstalled all M4 listed. Re-installed. Opened up Daz, went to load M4..

Cannot find M4 support folder. May I say wt...?

Do you have your content folder set as both a DAZ Studio Format folder AND a Poser Format folder? If not DAZ Studio is not seeing the needed files at all...

Yes I do, however that is interesting question as I recently also lost the ability to search for .cr2 files As in NO returns were found.
I was using M4 just 2 days ago no problem.
See in the image, the orange border with little scroll thing top left corner. That is an indication files are missing..or?

Ok, just got the same message for V4. No support folder found. So it is a content management problem?

That bottom folder does not need to be listed and it should NOT be used for content. That causes a Nested Content folder as Studio and MyLibrary both are In that main folder. You can not have one content folder inside another folder that holds content except for a Poser style Runtime folder inside a DAZ Studio Content folder.
You now have Nested folders and that Broke the libraries ability to read the content.

Removed it again, just added 5 minutes ago to try and find poser content that seems to have been lost. I can assure you that is not the cause of my M4 and V4 issues which pre-exist my latest blunder. :)

What is the full path to your Michael 4.cr2?

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\Runtime\Libraries\Character\DAZ People

And I see the Vic4.cr2 is in that folder also. So something has gone awry. :(

Does that Runtime have "Runtime:Libraries:!DAZ:Victoria 4" and "Runtime:Libraries:!DAZ:Michael 4" folders, and does your other content folder NOT have them?

Hmm and they were working but now fail to load. Have you done anything new to your install? Changed versions of DS, updated the CMS or moved anything?

    Oh good Mike is here...

    Yes, that is correct.

And I have not changed install in any way.

Are you loading them from the Content Library > Poser Formats, or from Smart Content/Categories/Products?

    Smart Content.

Okay, try loading it from Content Library > Poser Formats > My DAZ 3D Library > Figures > DAZ People. If that works, then it's the linkk in Smart Content that's wrong. Did you have them installed elsewhere before you started using DIM?

In fact, looking more closely at the screencap in your first post, the dates of the metadata files are wrong -- mine are dated 2/20/2013. Is that screencap of the "My Library" folder or the "My DAZ 3D Library" folder?

Well this is interesting, going via CL > PF > My Daz etc. and it loads fine. Furthermore I opened Install manager last night and removed all M4 via uninstall and re-installed it, so how can metadata files be wrong from fresh install. (Though they clearly are.)

Maybe you have metadata files in both "My Library" and "My DAZ 3D Library"? DIM won't uninstall metadata that was installed with a stand-alone installer. Or if the CMS was stopped when DIM installed an update, the older metadata wouldn't have been removed. Since you have the same issue with V4, it sounds like a bigger issue than a one-time glitch.

Can you check if you have metadata files in both locations?

I'm sorry, I don't know where to start. What does a metadata file look like, what extension, and traditionally where would it be stored?

I can tell you I have never installed M4 by any means other than DIM.

They are the files in your first screen shot, in Runtime:Support

Then there are no metadata files for M4 or V4 in My Library.

Strange. DIM should show you if you have an update. If you go to the Installed tab in DIM and hover over "Michael 4 Base", what does it show as the Package Date?

Umm... V4 and M4 never show in Smart Content. But they do use Meta date for smart content once they are loaded. I just checked.

    Package date: 09 - 01 - 2013

Jaderail : Always have in mine, right since I first installed them.

No, they should show in Smart Content if you don't have something selected in the scene.

Weird that you have the current package but old metadata files. Can you uninstall and reinstall Michael 4 Base (if you have the Public Beta installed you'll need to reimport metadata in the general release after reinstalling M4 Base).

I do stand corrected. V4 lists if the scene is empty. So does M4.

Done it, not by uninstalling and reinstalling though ( I already tried that last night ), I went to database management and selected to re-import metadata. Noticed a little checkbox about user data overriding content data and unchecked it. Now working as before. Seems some third party M4 add-on has played havoc with my metadata. Think I will leave that little checkbox unchecked until I have a better grasp of what I am doing. Like 2037 or some such.

Thanks for all your efforts at helping guys.

Ah, right, I remember someone did M4 and V4 metadata before DAZ 3D made the official version.

Nice catch, never would have thought to check for user data files.
