Possible to put 3rd party items in Smart Content Products?

in Technical Help (nuts n bolts)

Hi all. I purchased some items from outside of Daz and want to use Smart content in Daz Studio to view it. On the Files side- no problem. But on the other side/section Products I don't know how. Ideally like with Daz bought products for example Victoria- I click on her picture and then all her stuff is together (iray/3d delight skins, makeup options, etc). Is there a way to do this with 3rd party items? Thanks in advance!

    Smart content view shows metadata for the product. 3rd party items often don't have them, hence why they don't appear there.

    I’ve spent a considerable amount of time building metadata for third-party items, and now that I have @riversoftarts’ Content Wizard, I can’t imagine doing it by hand ever again. It can even create DIM packages, although I haven’t taken advantage of that myself yet. It’s a little pricey, but if you think of your time as being worth anything at all, it pays for itself in short order. Plus, Riversoft’s store goes on sale pretty often, so you wouldn’t have to wait too long for a deal.

    Thank you both :) Looking at the youtube link and wiki now. I actually have Content Wizard but not sure I'm using it to its full potential yet. I've been using it but it doesn't seem to work with animals and some packages that don't have certain files (I forget what the error message said). So for those particular items I was trying to do it by hand and dragging and dropping wasn't working (darn it!!). I've been having so many issues with my library and files that I figured since I was doing so much by hand might as well make it a learning experience. I keep running into weird problems though like I downloaded this awesome looking set from Renderosity (for free even!) by TruForm of a Medieval Hovel and when I tried importing it by hand and with CW I get nothing but errors even though the files are there. It just seems like if it isn't one thing it's another :\ and that is why it pays to read some of the 'readmes' :P

    Riversoft has a commercial thread on Content Wizard -- I know the problem with animals was raised and he's working on a fix for it.

    That's great to know for future products :) I'll be sure to keep CW up to date-thanks for the heads up
