If after purchasing a 3D model from the Daz Store and changing it significantly in terms of hair, face, body shape and clothing, is a EULA or Game Develop License still needed to use that character in say a 3D movie and then sell the dvd in stores, because the Character no longer looks like the original?

Thanks,

    A Licence of any type is not needed for any Renders (Pictures) or Animations made with content from DAZ 3D except for one copy righted Character sold. The EULA covers all renders and Animations. The reason a license is needed for games is because the Mesh (Object file) is included in the game in some way most of the time in some type of games. Images do not have that problem.
    You can even create a game using only pictures and animations and not need a licence.

    So when using a character in my movie who I made look totally different than how I bought it, where it is unrecognizable I still would need to buy a gamer license, I'm not even talking a game, just for a movie that I would like to put on DVD and sell in stores. ?

    No, you do not need a game license to make a movie (avi, DVD, flash, Mpeg, DIVX, MKV). In fact, people create short animations in Daz Studio and other 3D animation programs using Daz's figures and then upload them to YouTube without a purchasing a license.

    As long as you are not distributing the mesh (object / Duf / DSF) you do not need a license.

    Umm.. NO Licences Needed for Animations Period!! As in Movie on DVD or file or film. Nothing needed but for you to make the movie.

    I animate, I render, I do not need a licence. I do NOT make games that use the Mesh in the file. Neither will you.

    No additional license needed for 2D renders, still or animated. You do of course require the standard license obtained by purchasing the item, in the store.

    Well.. To even get the Content to Download the User has now agreed to the DAZ 3D EULA so I took that into account. I was only addressing the need for more than that EULA, which is none for 2D work use. I never took into account a user not having the Base EULA as I'm under the impression that is done before the first files can be downloaded now.

    EDIT: Just to be clear I was only addressing the Gamers licence, it is not needed for movies. The Content EULA covers 2D use.

    Changing Daz Models Significantly…

    I believe that the OP was mostly worried about changing DAZ 3D models significantly.

    @jshavers
    You can change the model as much as you like, including textures, hair, clothing etc., as long as it is for your own use, and you don't try to sell or give it away.

    As has previously been mentioned, you do not need a licence for using the DAZ 3D models for 2D images (including Animations), that is what they were designed for, and that use is covered by the EULA.
