Weird rigging silent moves - and how I can stop it?
*reluctantly comes in and sits on the couch* I do not want to be here, doc. I'm not even in the mood to talk like Gollum here. But I hope someone can answer this question. Fine fine, okay so here's the deal.
Been experimenting with makin' stuff, which a lot of people end up doing. So now I have this object, the 2nd of two I have made this month. And just like the other it's doing weird things when I rig the pieces.
When I tell a bone to move, it'll move. It'll take the mesh with it. But I don't get to watch the mesh move. I watch the bounding box move at best and then pop! The object is moved. That's with this second object. I've only rigged two pieces up and stopped because of this.
With the first, if I tried to move certain parts the whole thing would appear to move and then pop! It's all in place.
Makes posing kind of surreal.
I've had this happen before when converting legacy to triax, so I've never thought much of it. But this is me starting out with an object I made from scratch and adding rigging from scratch. Triax, cuz it's easier to set up. And it's not like I've never rigged before, because I have. I've just never bothered to go this far into making something before.
And yes, I've looked but I guess I'm the only complainer on these matters out there.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone might give.

In Draw Settings what is the Manipulation Binding set to?
Oh, is THAT what that's for??? None of the tuts mention this magical thing. LOL!
It appears the default is "optimized". I changed it out of curiosity and suddenly things behaved.
Thank you!
Next up is to find a tut to copy rigging weight maps to another spot on a piece that apparently decided it wasn't symmetrized through the process of creation. If it's possible.
I don't think it is possible to copy/paste like that
So I discovered. It would have been nice.
Either way, after all was said and done, the whole rig started to do weird things so I may scrap the project for now.
