V4 Character Morph Requirements
I started this thread essentially to offer some assistance to zarcondeegrissom who had raised the issue in another thread:
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/40319/
To clarify some things without hijacking that thread, I created this one. The issue was associated with character packages for Victoria 4 that listed certain requirements that, although familiar to long-time V4 users, may not be familiar to others.
Victoria 4 has been around for a long time now, and, as a consequence, can be considered a "mature platform". Not only is there a dizzying amount of content available for her, but there is also a wealth of addons, including morph packages. Newer users may not be familiar with these. The example that zarcondeegrissom used was a character that listed Victoria 4, Victoria 4 Morphs++, Victoria 4 Elite Ethnic Morphs, and Aiko 4 as requirements. To clarify what this refers to:
1. Victoria 4 - the base V4 model, naturally.
http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-2-base
2. Victoria 4 Morphs++ - an arguably indispensable morph package for Victoria
http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-2-morphs.
3. Victoria 4 Elite Ethnic Morphs - a typo? here, as I'm certain this must refer to V4 Elite Ethnic Faces
http://www.daz3d.com/v4-elite-ethnic-faces
5. Aiko 4 - the base Aiko 4 model (which is really a morph of Victoria 4)
http://www.daz3d.com/aiko-4-base.
If someone needed to purchase all five items (in addition to the character!), the list prices amount to nearly $110. However, you might want to contact the vendor of the character to confirm the requirements before charging ahead. Usually characters can be used without all the morphs, they just won't look identical to the promos. Also, sometimes packages are specifically designed to work with more than one model (I.e. a V4 variant and an Aiko 4 variant), although apparently not in the case of the character package zarcondeegrissom was interested in.
Since zarcondeegrissom already has V4.2, only three more packages would be required to reproduce the character in all its variations. I have to say here that, even though V4 was around for a long time before Morphs ++ was released, it is hard to imagine anyone using her without that morph package. Its not just that so many characters depend upon it, but that the possibilities to change the model using it are almost endless. From the top of her head to the tips of her toes, there's a dial for that! :)

Very good info, thank you for helping. There is also this V4 morph Package the Elite Body Shapes it is required for some figures for V4 as well.
http://www.daz3d.com/v4-elite-body-shapes
Thanks for the start here. For all intensive purposes, yes V4.2 Base, Alisha for V4 and Genesis, and FW Yasmin, is in my wishlist. Already about $60 Before required Morphs. That is steep for starting out, especial as I'm looking at getting practically a new computer just for Daz Studio and SonarX1.
I was confused by the Morph options, and have time to figure it out. There are some Bundle packages that have multiple morph packages, And the names don't always match word for word what was stated as required in the add-on figures. I had initially done a search for "Victoria 4 Morphs++" not "Victoria 4.2 Morphs++", and I had doubts they were the same thing. Especially for a figure requiring the older morph package sold elsewhere (not at the Daz Store).
Now, let me be clear about that price tag statement. It's not that I'm saying it is two much for what there selling, I just want to know for sure, that what morph and figure combinations I'm paying for, will actually work together. I don't want a repeat of the "Wachiwi Hair Xtra" malfunction.
Oh, that's what you call a glitch, huh? - John Sheppard. lol.
The V4.2 Morphs++ are the proper set of morphs. They are all the V4.0 morphs updated to include more, so all figures V4.0 or V4.2 that call for Morphs++ will work with that set.
Sometimes you will save money if you look for bundles rather than just the V4 base this one has base and the Morphs++
http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-2-complete plus a couple of other items and is still $10 cheaper than buying the base and morphs separately
Thanks 'chohole', I was just looking at that combo, and figuring if it is the correct morphs, total coolness.
also, on a separate note
I really hope that "Victoria 4 Elite Ethnic Morphs" was a typo, the (popular web search engine) turned up nothing.. Tho it was on separate lines, as follows.
Victoria 4, Victoria 4 Morphs++, Victoria 4 Elite
Ethnic Morphs, Aiko 4
Now do I assume that is "Victoria 4 Elite" and also needed "Ethnic Morphs". This is when I call it a night, and head to bead. I'll look at it again in the morning, and maybe that will make sense. lol.
I note that both the characters that you mention can be used on genesis as well as V4, with just the V4 shapes for Genesis http://www.daz3d.com/v4-and-m4-shapes-for-genesis, so if you are using Genesis you will not need to buy any V4 packs at all, just buy the Shapes pack and use the genesis version of the characters.
That is epic 'chohole', I don't have much of anything for "Geneses 1", other then some Wilmap cloths, and what came stock with Daz Studio 4.6.
I did read some where that the "Iconic Shapes for Genesis" set was not exactly complete, and didn't work with some ad-on figures, so I assumed the only safe way to go was to get the 'full blown' Gen 4 base figure and morphs.
"V4 and M4 Shapes for Genesis" was in one of them, I think.
I haven't found much information for using Gen 4 figures on G2F/G2M, I haven't looked that hard yet other then typing it into (a Popular Search engine that starts with 'G').
There was a cool picture/graph in a blog somewhere that covered the basic Daz figures from gen 1 to gen 6 I think, it was partly helpful yet did not cover any of the add-on figures. A simple graph of add-on figures for G2F/G2M base figures, and there required morphs would be so epic, I have found nothing as of yet.
"DAZ 3D Human Figures - A History" thread by Scott-Livingston, just got updated, So I'll have to skim threw that again as well. Thank you all, for putting up with mu lack of knowledge regarding Daz Studio.
That's what we are here for.
A slight verification, and can I do that instead Question.
"Alisha for V4" and "FW Yasmin" are in my shopping cart.
V4 and M4 Shapes for Genesis
http://www.daz3d.com/v4-and-m4-shapes-for-genesis
Is for Geniuses (1)
Generation 4 Legacy Shapes for Genesis 2 Female(s)
http://www.daz3d.com/generation-4-legacy-shapes-for-genesis-2-female
Is for Geniuses 2
Will the characters not work on G2 with the second shapes-pac (Just outfits), or will they?
yes, I know V4.2 is on sail at the moment. I'm just looking at future-proof options.
No, no V4 shape (Character morph) will work on Genesis1 or Genesis2 even with the Shape files. You need the Shape files, V4 for G2F for example, and then still need to transfer the V4 Character Morphs from V4 to the G1 or G2 using the GenX transfer tool plugin or by transfering the morphs to G1 and or G2F by hand. The V4 Shapes only morph G1 or G2F into a V4 shape. It does not allow the use of the V4 morphs (characters) on the shapes.
thank you so much for stooping me from making another costly mistake. So "V4.2 pro" it is
http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-3d-model-pro-suite
Just encase extra stuff is needed, and I can't turn down the hair style extras, as my collection is lacking (I have only four choices for G1 hair right now).
On a side note, I keep seeing stuff on sharecg for "A3" (Aiko I presume). Is there even an A3 around for legal purchase anymore?
So the only other choice is down to a decision-dice roll, David or Michael.
Can I wait for them to release "The David 8"?
Hello, I'm David... lol.
The Legacy V4 Shapes on G1 and G2 will allow you to use V4 Clothing on Both G's I believe but you would need the Legacy UV's for G2F to use V4 texture files on G2F I think.
As For David I never had a David before the D5 was put out, He is a nice figure to round out the males.
Hi David... many here know I'm really a Jeff.
it was more a pun on the Prometheus "The David 8" Viral Ad, then my real name. lol.
I notice something like that with many figures, check that. They updated the details list from yesterday when I looked.
They both said something about using the V4 UV maps or something like that under "Textures Included". That did strike ma as odd as they both include there own texture maps.
Hello, I'm David. I can do almost anything that could possible be asked of me.
I can assist your employees, I can make your origination more efficient.
I can carry out directives my human counterparts might find, distressing, or unethical... lol.

Oh. never saw it. I'm not a big Movie type. I'm still a Jeff.
O.K., it was some one else, not Yasmin or Alisha.
It was A G2F figure, that used the V5 UV maps. yet V5 was not listed as a requirement, hmmm.
http://www.daz3d.com/people/ly-brynn
As an example, I had noticed it a few places.
"This product uses the Victoria 5 UV Maps"
Genesis 2 Female includes the V5 UV maps, so you don't need to own Victoria 5 to use the product.
Vendors like to include this note sometimes because it means that the textures should also be usable on the Genesis figure, provided you own Victoria 5.
