Safe Purging of incremental saves from the "Pane (Tab)"?

First part I think is fairly simple. Copping the entire '"My Library" directory tree from 'My Docs' over to one of my DAT-drives for backup purposes.
Now removing all except for the last incremental save of each scene, pose, character, ext, from the Pane (Tab) is something else.
Can I just delete the files from the associated folders from within 'My Computer', or dose that smart-content-browser thing 'CMS' save meta data that also needs to be purged somehow?

Yes, the CMS will still have entries if you delete the files with the OS (but not if you delete them in the Content Library pane). However if you open the Content DB Maintenance dialogue from the Content Library's option menu there is a purge orphans command which will remove the references.
I think I follow you there, I did run into a small snag.
Browsing threw "Daz Studio Formats -> My Library -> Scenes",
and "Categories -> Default -> Unassigned -> Scene",
I was able to locate most of the scenes I had saved, from within Daz studio.
Why is Daz Studio putting my saved Scenes in different places in the "Content Library" tab, when most of them are in a single folder on the SSD? I'm double checking that all are actually there in that SSD folder now, there is a lot of them.
O.K.
All the files were there, it was just difficult to make out the long file names in that 'Whatever' on the left of my screen-caps.
I fallowed the advice, and 'Copied' the files over to HPSS, Then I went into Daz and used the "Content Library" tab on the right of my screen-caps to delete most of the 'Junk'.
Then I copied the stuff back over to my library I wanted to keep, in to new folders I created. Restarted Daz Studio, and the "Content Library" tab looked good, and recognized the stuff in the new folder. All good there and working.
Then I opened up that 'Whatever' on the left of my screen-caps. And assumed the yellow things up top were Orphan files, and tried to use that DB fix menu thing, rebooted the computer, and well.
Try the one Above it. It probably has the old PATHS in the the MetaData files. That could fix it.
That didn't work, even after restarting Studio. Even after rebooting the computer to reset CMS.
What about that "Reset DataBase", or is that really bad to do?
Or, Is there an INF/BAT file I can open with notepad and manually delete the four bad links?
Do the Reset and then do a Re-Import. Close DS and then open. That could very well be needed. If that does not work then the Metadata for those files might have errors in the paths as sent from DAZ 3D. Which would need reported for updating.
Opps those are your own files, Hmm... try the Above and lets see.
"It appears like things are about to get....bad" - Bra'tac.
Either there was something wrong with CMS to begin with or the DB reset was superposed to be done after CMS was stopped. CMS crashed the instant I clicked "Accept". And now it crashes every time I try to start DS.
There is an "Uninstaller" in the start manure for CMS, I'll trying to locate an "Installer" specifically for CMS. Also, there may be updates, I never thought to look for them, now's a good time for that.
CMS may have been flaky to begin with, it only showed less then half of my saved scenes in that "Smart Content" tab. I added the folders After the purge and a reboot, there never was sub folders in the Scenes thing before.
This sounds very much like a Corrupt Database File to me. A Bad file Can and will cause the CMS to not run. If you have the Newest DIM you should have the Newest CMS file with a installer for it. Also the Bad DataBase will need Deleted from your System. A Reset or other will not fix one that has Errors in the file. Here is the DB File on my PC not sure where it will be on a XP.
I'll check that, DIM hates the Proxy, so it hasn't connected since my last purchase over a week ago.
I wounder if I can just delete that file, and CMS can make it from scratch? (Not making hasty actions, just thinking out-loud)
I can just copy that elsewhere, and try.
In your DAZ folder in Win Start you should have these....
They don't start or stop CMS then and there, they seam to require a reboot to take effect.
That did it, You are a god.
1) Kill CMS
2) 'Moved' every sing file in that folder over to other drive, restarted computer
3) started up DS (CMS didn't crash)
4) Re imported Meta data, And let it think
5) Smart tab came back to life. Bad links gone.
I have to save a new scene for it to appear in the list, It isn't crashing now and all the figures and cloths are back. Good Enough. Sold!
things are loading a hell of a lot faster now. That's a bonus.
Umm... more of a dog than the other but I'm very happy you are up and running again. Now Export your User Data so you can recover faster to your last save next time. I export my data weekly. I just did it for this week. I then just Delete my DB and do a Re-Import to get everything back, including Categories I have set up.
I will make that backup now.
Now FW Eve has appeared in the 'Figures' smart content thing, She was missing before. Still no Maggie, tho that may be lack of pre-programing or something. I wounder how long that database was buggy.
TIP: The Products View, Content Library Tab, going from Alpha Numeric order is often my First clue. If any of it goes off as in out of proper order I know my DB has a bad write from my last install or Category work.
