Genesis 3 character status

I have been exclusivel using Genesis 8 figures; however, there look to be some really nice looking Genesis 3 characters. Are Genesis 3 still viable? Or are they considered obselete with the advent  of the Genesis 8 figures?  Thanks!

They still work, they mainly take the same figure maps, and there are add-on tools for converting clothing etc. from Genesis 8.
