Any way to import video files?
Is there any way to marry a Daz character into pre-existing footage? I can render the figure with a green background and composite in After Effects, but is there a way to do this in Daz so I can really get the lighting of the Daz stuff to really match the background plates?

I'm not even certain there's a way to do that even in more advanced software such as 3DS Max. Your best bet is to carefully research the lighting in the video scene and recreate it, along with any camera angle changes and then integrate them together. If you're going for a Roger Rabbit-esque integration you'll also want to remove any sections where the figure moves behind foreground objects.
This is one of those cases where there are no easy shortcuts.
you can get an animated texture script that uses an image series
and HOF all my 3D software except DS supports video import
most such as Carrara and iClone and as far as I know Poser too can use it for IBL too
I'm used to After Effects and wondered if Daz had a similar ability. HOF? IBL?

HOF Herald of Fire
IBL image based lighting
Here is a Almost helps but is not a solution. If you can capture some Scenes from the Video as single frames (image files) you can load those to the DAZ Studio Background as a reference to set up your lighting and then remove it before you Animate. You could do that for the different parts that need different lighting. If as I say you can get the images.
Thanks. That may be all I really need….just some reference frames.
There is a plugin for DAZ Studio 3 by Dreamlight but you would have to have that earlier version of DS3

DOES NOT WORK IN DS4
the one I linked to by Draagonstorm apparently does
only in render though not for setting up lighting
Yes DraagonStorms plugin works as a Render in option only. Not useful as a match the lighting tool. But is a nice tool for DS4.5+.
