Does Poser 2014 work with Linnux?

I am having a lot of trouble with Windows 8.1.

Some of my older programs such as Roxi, will not work.

If I switch to Linnux will I still be able to run Poser 2014?

I have read that a program running on Linnux to help Windows programs run on Linnux is sometimes needed.
Apparently this program acts as a "middle man" between Linnux and the other windows based programs to allow them to run.
Will Poser be able to run with this kind of arrangement?

Thanks.

The Linux add in you speak of is Wine, which translates Windows API calls into the Linux API . It works for PP2014, with the limitation that the Library didn't work for the tester:

    http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=29433

The issue described has been around; from the Poser 8 report:

The built in library browser does not work due to an apparent bug in Wine's handling of local Flash files. ( http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=19608 ) However, the Library GUI can be accessed via Firefox by installing the Wndows version of Firefox and the Flash Plugin using the Winetricks script. The library can then be opened in the Windows Firefox by browsing to the file Poser 8/Runtime/ui/Flex/LSMGUI/bin-release/LSMGUI.html after Poser 8 has been started. It works normally except that drag-n-drop to the Viewport does not work.

The Firefox workaround will allow the addition of additional external Runtime folders. The file dialog window may be behind the Firefox window, so don't do it with Firefox maximized. I symlink the folder containing the content into ~home/.wine/drive_c/

I had PP2012 working with the library a couple of years ago; IIRC I had to install the windows Adobe flash plugin, MS Visual C libraries, MS Core Fonts and Wine Gecko using the WineTricks script. This was an older version of Wine, so YMMV...

I since bought a Windows machine, as this runs 32-bit Windows programs. Linux and Windows handle their memory differently in their respective 64-bit versions. There is a 64-bit version of Wine, but I've never tried it:

    Thanks, WandW.

That is a nice new avatar picture.

And the information is really helpful. It seems there is no easy and simple answer. But you have taught me a few useful things.

    Thanks again.

Thanx, Randy :) She's a morphed Xinxin for Aiko 3. The morph (not by me!) can be downloaded here:

If you own a retail copy (non OEM) of an earlier version of Windows, you can install it into a virtual machine, and run it within 8.1, subject to physical memory limitations. 8.1 Pro includes Hyper-V:

or Oracle Virtual Box runs under most modern operating systems, and is free:

Wow, that is fascinating. I didn't know that.
    I have Windows XP here.
I'll look up that morph too.

    Thanks so much.
