price madness? indeed!

Hi DAZ,

Yesterday (local time) I bought a few items here in the market place @ some $14 apiece. When wanting to download the pages just now (so I can remember what exactly that I bought) I noticed that the price now is minus 50% .

This is not the first time I have had this happening. Prices may drop by 50% and perhaps even more a few hours later, and there is no equivalent of a grace period... this is just a gamble, a money game with a hazardous outcome.

I am not happy with this.
Under these conditions I strongly think I'll stop buying things here.

There is nothing to prevent you from returning the models, as they are within the 30 day money back period, and buying them again.

An much easier way, would be to write to Support explaining your predicament, and asking for a store credit for the balance. I am sure your request will be looked on favourably.

    EDIT:

Incidently, these are user forums, if you need to contact DAZ 3D in futurre, use the Help > Contact Us link at the top of the page.

Totally agree with Jimmy on this one.

DAZ 3D is very proud of it's 30 day money back guarantee, and CS are usually quite happy to do a partial refund when a sale like this happens.

However you do need to contact Customer support, no one using the forums can help you. Please do remember that you are posting this in the New Users Help Forum. not in one of the general forums. The NU forums are designed to help people get to grips with using new software in a friendly atmosphere.

Submit a support ticket here https://helpdaz.zendesk.com/requests/new using Sales as the relevant dept, give them your order number and hilight the price that you would be paying today for the same items.

Yes, I say write the support ticket and ask for a store credit. It may take them awhile to get to the ticket but they will let you return the items or give them to you at the better price. Sometimes its easier to just let you return them.

I have gotten a few things at 40% off but I often see items at 50% 58% and with fast grab 70% off. What I do is put the items I want that are not PC items in my wishlist and check the prices regularly when I'm online. Most of the time I wait for an irresistible sale to buy them.

You can benefit greatly from the fact that things tend to go on sale pretty often. This is not a bad thing. This is a very good thing. You just need to hold out for a good sale because now you know it will probably be coming soon. If you buy something at 30% off or 40% off because you really wanted it and to say thanks to the artist for making it, don't feel bad or beat yourself up over it.

If you are really interested in saving money, buy a platinum club membership when its on sale too. It saved me a ton and $1.99 items are always $1.99 pretty much and I never regret paying that.

I've been thinking we need a thread about Daz3d on a budget for newbie's. And it not just check fast grab and pray for a flash sale. I chose to buy the fabricator type plug-ins and some textures to make more out of what I had. I grabbed up Carrara at 84% off. I chose Elements to work with PSD files. I learned to fit those blasted shoes so I can use V4 outfits. There is a lot to learn that can help stretch your dollars. And its kinda of fun. If we had a thread, people could post about what they are learning and doing to stretch a dollar for 3d. Anybody think this might be helpful to newbies like me?

probably the best thing to do is to never pruchase anything at full price because it will almost surely go on sale. Unless you don't mind paying the full price because you need the item right away. If you have some patience, just wait. A bit.

OK. I never noticed there was a 30days moneyback guarantee.

    That really helps.
All I have to do now is find out how it exactly works.

But my argument still stands: this is a lottery. You have to visit the site at least every day just to see what has gone down in price.

    Thanks for your replies.

Write to Sales at Help > Contact Us, and ask for a refund of the difference. Give your order number, and explain what has happened, and they will sort it out.

Buying anything from anywhere is a lottery, the price may go down, or up, but at least here, you get to do something about it. DAZ 3D have always operated a 30 day money back guarantee, it is not something new.

I happen to love that aspect of the store, never knowing when you will get a deal is exciting for me. I fail to see an issue with it and I have never used the refund system except for a product that didn't work correctly. Only time I pay full price is if I need the item for a commission, otherwise, I can wait till it goes on sale.

I pretty much count on the sales. I too love checking my wishlist on days I have a little money. I can't ever see a sale as a bad thing. The sales are what make it possible for me to do this at all. That and Daz Studio being free.

I'll throw my 2 cents in. DAZ CS is the bomb!. They are not instant, but if you give them a day or two they've handled everything I've thrown at them. Only time that didn't happen was during the holidays when people (including me!) we going a bit crazy :-)

I like checking every day and I usually visit the gallery every day. I waited for the White Tiger to go on sale for two months. Decided to buy it at retail because I wanted to finish a project. It literally went on sale the day after I bought it! E-mailed CS, sang them my sad story ;-) and they gave me store credit.

I find the store and these forums incredibly responsive so it's easy for me to keep my shirt on when I get stuck or don't like something.

    The problem has been solved.

Thanks for mentioning that 30days money back guarantee. I didn't know it existed.
