No shaping options for Genesis 8

Really new to Daz, but just been trying to get my install and content up and running… I don't seem to have any options for shaping in the shaping editor, is that correct? From the videos I've been watching I had the impression that there should be lots of options for the shaping the Genesis character… I've attached a screen grab of my shaping editor window showing that all I have in there are five options for full body shaping but nothing under the other folders except 'Real World'

Thanks

Doesn't seem to make any difference… There are no opions for shaping the face or any other parts of the body. At first I wasn't able to get the CMS working, but then I changed the permissions on all the Daz folders and which worked. I installed the Genesis 8 Starter stuff, but no luck…

That looks about right for the base (Free version) of Geneis 8 Male.

Most of the extra body shaping options come from morph packs that are for sale in the Daz3D store (and a few at the other marketplace).

When I load in the Genesis 8 Basic Male this is all I have in the Shaping tab… is this correct or should I have more available parameters for shaping?

Rather than using the Shaping pane, which goes part-by-part, I would select the figure and then look under Actor in the Parameetrs pane, which will show all morphs - expressions will be under Pose Controls, fursther down the list in the Parameters pane. Edit - make sure that Show Sub Items is checked at bottom-left of the Parameters pane.

Right, OK. I imagined there would be more scope to morph straight away… So just out of interest, how are the morph packs created? in another 3D app and then imported back into Daz?

Yes, imported using the Morph Loader Pro plug-in usually. It is possible to create morphs inside DS, from dForms, but most are made in modelling/sculpting applications.

Here's a free morph pack for G8 to get you started. It offfers quite a few possibilities already:

But eventually you won't get around spending some money.
The G8M Head and Body morphs mentioned above are essential, as are 200 Plus in my opinion.

One thing to note if you aren't in a hurry to start spending $$$ — those morph sets go on sale fairly often. In fact I think the last time was just last week (one of the big month-long annual sales was on). Put them in your wishlist and keep an eye on it.

I just got the Male and Female body morphs packs, I'm sure that'll give me enough to get on with for a while… Certainly not against spending a few pounds to get the right stuff … just trying to find my way around the Daz landscape.
