The viewport can go blank

Many times when I am making a render the viewport will go blank. I can be moving a figure in a scene and then the viewport goes blank and I cannot see anything. Is this a graphics card issue? I am using DAZ 4.5 stndard.

4.5 is really old, it might well be a good idea to update (you can use the beta if you don't want to disturb the release version for now). In the meantime, what are your hardware specifications - especially the video card/chip?

  • My proccesror is a AMD Phenom II X4 960T Processor 3.0 GHz. My graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 740.

How up-to-date are the drivers for the nVidia card? Right-click on the desktop>nVidia Control Panel will show the version number.

  • The driver number version is 26.21.14.4259.

The driver number version is 26.21.14.4259.

From the control panel? Usually it's xxx.xxx (assuming this is a Windows system).

  • I am on windows 7. The number, now that I really know what o look for is 442,59.

Pretty much up-to-date then. It may simply be a hardware limitation - or an issue with the rather ancient version of DS.

  • Which version of DAZ Studio would me the more up to date bersion if I wanted to use something more up to date?

  • Could you be trying to view from below with ground plane turned on? That would give a 'blank' render.

  • THe blank screen seems to happen whenever I am posing a figure.

  • I just noticed something. My Windows 7 I have is 64 bit. The download that I got DAZ 4.5 that i am using is 32 bit. Would any of this make a difference?

The current version of DS is 4.12.0.86, so 4.5 is seven major versions behind. I doubt 32/64 bit would account for the issue you are seeing.
