Make me Itsy Bitsy - Terry "Bump"
Hi,
I have the Itsy Bitsy Bundle :
https://www.daz3d.com/make-me-itsy-bitsy-baby-props-and-shaders
and I love the terry shader (because I love fluff stuff).
But I need your help, because I use that much times, so I need to learn how to use it better.
I love to sue the bump-shader on clothes like a Pyjama or underpants to make them soft for a baby :)
See attachment, the problem is, that the shader works with displacement strenght, and for some reason creates it an invisible gap.
So, how can I use it and adjust it for better work and is it possible to create a new "Terry" Preset with those new\better options? I don't know when that preset can be used good... because everything is flying.
Update:
I used now the Fur shader from this:
https://www.daz3d.com/essential-iray-shaders
and it worked fine.
(see last image).
So now is the question... what to do with my terry shader? can it be reported to the support, that it get updated/fixed ? I mean it is possible, but it seems like the artists made it not correct :/

Displacement can be a bit of a swine to get right. Remember that ALL of the material zone is affected, so if the base grey is out by a bit then the whoel garment will be displaced out too. Of course the mid-point for a grey scale is actually 127.5, which is not simple to do in 8 bits of a byte, so the base of 128 actually will displace eberythign a little. You could see if the garment has a shrink morph or an expand that allows negative values and you'd need to have the item just under the skin of the figure so that whjen the displacment is applied at render time it will appear correctly - rinse, repeast on that one! ;) You might be able to adjust the minimum displacemnt value to achieve something similar.
hmmm... where are my attachments, got they deleted O_O they didnt showed anything naughty :/...
I can see 3 images on 1st post - do you mean those?
yeah...
I cant see them ;(
There are two things about displacement that are difficult to get correct,
1) the min and max, they do NOT have to be the same 'size' (same size meaning -1 and 1 or -0.25 and 0.25), the 'center colour' usually 128 represents 0 displacement if both min and max are equal 'size', they usually are, but you can use offset displacement by using different values (like -1 and 0.5), have a play with it.
2) image gamma, sometime daz sets my image gamma to 0.0 instead of 1.0, this effectively offsets the min/max as 128 is no longer the center colour, I don't know why daz does this but when displacement is doing something it shouldn't, check the image gamma (the image editor will tell you what it is and allow you to set it).
I'm seeing the three pictures in the first post fine. I wonder what's up with it on MrDarck's machine. 0o
New day and nope, I can still not see the images ;( I just tested a private tab, nope.

There can I see them.
I tested Microsoft Edge now (urks) and same result there, in this thread (here) no attachments :(
