If you installed with DIM on the installed Tab you can use the Uninstall there. If installed from an exe you have a uninstaller in the Strart> Programs>DAZ 3D folder or in the Control Panel> Add remove Programs on a Win System.

If you're upgrading you don't need to uninstall, both DIM and the stand-alone installer will handle uninstalling the old files.

Im not upgrading, It had a product update. A DAZ Studio Update will as Noted above Remove the old version. You only need to install. All else is automatic as noted. I was thinking you wanted the Uninstaller just on principle. I often do it by hand myself.

    no harm,no foul.
    My dilemma was this:
I was moving some files around and ended up drop copying the "my daz 3d folder" into another file for something else. Ive tried folder restore and all of that jazz, even went as far as a system restore to a previous restore point, and I still couldnt find what I needed. I ended up pulling out my hair and going crazy over the past few weeks with installs and uninstalls to wipe the slate clean.
Eventually, I managed to get back what I was looking for, but now I cant find the data for my m4 and v4 ++morphs to make a new character.
    This is my dilemma. lol
As long as I have been dealing with DAZ, I nvr had as many issues with the runtime as do with this version.

I'm always a bit lost when people say they are lost in the new version of the Content. The truth is this.

Nothing in the Folder structure has changed one little bit from DS2. The only Difference now is the NAME of the folder that holds the content.
The new Types of files, they still go into standard places, and the Smart Content Tab that uses MetaData to link items to other items. Nothing in the File structure itself has changed. I have all my old content folders on Drive and can show that the content looks and works just the Same in the Content Library Tab as it always did. Content Library Tab is the very SAME view we had before Smart content with the Added CMS driven Products View.

If your problem is content having been inadvertently moved, uninstalling DS won't solve anything. The important thing is to make sure that the Data and Runtime folders are directly inside the folder you have listed as a content folder, not several layers down, and that you don't have one content folder inside another.

This seems related to this thread.
I am relatively new to Daz. In my various downloads from Daz and Renderosity, my folders and locations are a mish mash that is nearly impossible to find anything. I am prepared to do the necessary work of uninstalling and reinstalling if this will solve the problem. I am also open to alternative suggestions on organization. :-)

    Regards,
    Syd

As long as the Content is installed properly, that of course means no Nested folders, I never do any Content organization at the File level on my Hard Drive, other than possible different Runtimes for Different types of third party content. I use the Built in Category feature inside DAZ Studio. That ensures that none of the file paths get broken and I can design the Categories to whatever layout I prefer. It also allows all DIM installed content to be Uninstalled with DIM. If you move anything it needs from a path it expects it can not do its job. The Same applies to File Updates, if the files are not were the Program expects them they can not be updated with DIM.

What about content that was not installed with DIM? I have some items from other websites and one or two from Daz which seem to lost in the Category structure.

All third party content and none Smart content from DAZ Studio can be used from the Content Library Tab. This will show you the files on your PC and not just Smart links as shown in the Smart Content Tab. Many items even from DAZ 3D will be found in the Poser Formats sections as will most third party content. The Daz Studio Formats section will show all the DAZ 3D side of content like DAZ Studio textures for Poser only items, many of the older items work this way, and all the DAZ Studio only content will list there.
The Content Library Tab Products View will list in Order all your installed content in a Folder by themselfs, this view needs the CMS to be running to work.
