Products without "metadata", V4 Hair without V4 figure?

I was an idiot looking for simple long straght hair for Genisses2 or Victoria6 on my first order of stuff, and didn’t note the "4" in the product description. My stupidity, and it was only about ten dolars out of the few hundred I spent.

Now if The Hair can work on Genisses1 without Victoria4, That would be cool.

/* fixmypcmike; posted in another thread */
Not all of the older products have metadata yet, so they don’t appear in Smart Content. Most of Neftis’ older hairs, like Christine Hair, show up in “Content Library > Poser Formats > [your content library name] > Figures > Neftis” or “Content Library > Poser Formats > [your content library name] > Hair > Neftis”, and the materials are in “Content Library > Poser Formats > [your content library name] > Pose > Neftis”.
/* End Of Snip-it */

"materials are in "Content Library"... Where is "Content Library"? I don’t see that tab/button on the screen, or in any menu? I don’t even see "Poser Formats" as a sub menu anywhere.

Now as You can see, the product did install, somewhere. And it is not in any menu or tab with all the other Hair styles.

    And here I was looking on the left and top of the screen, lol....
    materials are in “Content Library > Poser Formats > [your content library name] > Pose > Neftis”

    materials are in “Content Library > Poser Formats > [My DAZ 3D Library] > Pose > Neftis”

    There is the Christine hair "Colors" from the looks of it. Nothing happened when I clicked on one, except the "New" went away, Hmmm.
    Infact there is no "Christine hair" in the scene after clicking that, as if it didn't load it.

    We doubled on that last post, lol. I have a lot of reading to do from the looks of it.

    Now out of curiosity Do y'all know if the V4 for G2 will work for that hair, or do I need to get V4.2 for G1? Will the V4 hair work on V4.2?

    You must first load the Hair item, those Mats are just colors to be used on the Hair, they are not the HAIR they are only texture files to change how the hair color looks.

    Look for the Hair item in POSER Formats>Hair or Figures, maybe even in Props one should hold the Hair item. You first load the Hair Prop or figure with the figure selected not the head the top figure name only. Then to change the Hair color you find it listed in the Scene tab select it and then apply a new color mat (texture).

    The hair itself is under "Figures".

    O.K. that works, And a single screen-cap for thou's that like visual aids.

    The auto-fit thing did come up. (Sorry no screen-caps of that, it was fairly straight forward.

    Selected "Victoria4" for original intended target
    Selected "Hair > Long", then clicked "Accept", and the computer did it's thing and it worked.

    Now I can go to the other folder and select the color of choice, coolness. Can I get that over to the left thing with the other hair styles, is that covered in the two threads I haven't read yet?

    You must select the target in the "Scene" tab for that to work. Same when you go to change the Hair color, Select the Hair first after it was Auto-Fitted.

    Many of the Older items simply do not have Metadata, that is a new file that makes items work as Smart content (the right thing) It only started with DS4 and much of the content is far older than DS4. To add Metadata to things and make it Smart content is a big process and not covered in either thread or manual. I myself use all 3 methods of content views, Smart Content Tab, Content Library Tab and in that one the Products View.

    Well that worked well, I have some other technical issues I've been putting up with for the past six days of using DAZ3D Studio to address now, before going further into getting the non-meta-data objects into the smart-menu thing.

    Program randomly crashing on the start of the forth or fifth render after making changes to the scene, The scene not appearing on the preview window after it was loaded into the "Scene" tab, and what exactly do ALL the render settings actually do and not do not just where the "Basic settings are".

    BSDwarlock004 looks good down to the elbows, then she looks like a plastic Barby doll, How do I fix that, lol.

    Reading those as I play with Lighting Color, Brightness, and Softness. I just finished reading the web-page on Render setting for the third time in the past month, I am hoping the two PDF's have much more in-depth detail then that web-page.

    I have yet to see anything discussing the Resource demands (CPU load and RAM consumption) vs Render Quality of;

    Best settings for the GUI preview window for the ultra-incapable workstation, vs the CRAY Supercomputer Mode. Why dose my preview display (Viewport) go blue and not come back sometimes?

    As for the Advanced Render tab in the GUI, again Resource demands vs Render Quality of;

    "3Delight" vs "Scripted 3Delight"???

    "Bucket Order" Why the different Options, and What difference do they make to Render times if any?

    "Pixel Samples (X) and (Y)", Anti-aliasing quality vs Speed of a Render? Why dose this have no effect at all on reflections?

    "Shadow Samples", Do I need it at all if ALL my lights are "Ray-trace" based?

    "Shading Rate", I've seen 2.00, 1.00, 0.50, 0.20, 0.10, and 0.01 discussed elsewhere. Are there other numbers that can work, or is there a linear/logarithmic integer-like set of numbers that work best with the engine (If so, What are they)?

    "Pixel Filter" modes, What one gives the best quality for the buck per say, vs what one gives the "God Like" Photograph Render quality. I would like to know what each one actually dose in detail, and the Pros and Cons of each one.
