How to add frames to timeline without messing everything up?

I have a timeline used for dforce simulations in Studio 4.12 Beta.

I know want to add more frames to the end (e.g. have 90 frames but need 160)

When I just enter 160 in the range field the existing keyframes get messed up.

Goal:

Keep the existing poses, simulations created up to frame 90 intact.

Add 70 frames after frame 90.

Make a new simulation in this extended range.

I hope what I wrote is understandable.

  • By "messed up" do you mean there are new frames appearing inside your 90 frames?

Not new ones but the values of the existing ones change.

I have a pose plus camera and surrounding objects at frame 90.

I selected everything in the scene tree and timeline and created keyframes. All the objects showed the frame triangle at frame 90.

    To this point everything works.

Now I extended the range in the timeline to 160.

As a result the keyframes are still at 90 but their values changed. The pose is not as it was before.

So, the question really is, how to add niew frames at the end of the timeline without changing anything in the already existing frames.

    Thanks for chiming in.

  • Is frame 90 changing, or the frames before it? If it's the frames before this is probably down to smooth interpolation trying to accomodate the extra frames

Frankly speaking, it is totally unclear to me what frames are changing where. But, I just selcted all frames somehow, changed to TCB (whatever that is) and it seems now I can extend the timeline. Thanks for the tip.

Time to read the manual I think. Is there one available?

  • look at the bottom left of the timeline. There is  a field called "Total" change this to however many frames you need. Simple as...
