I think it's supposed to be changed before installing. You can change it in DAZ Studio itself though.
I will try! First, I've got to get it working for everyone!
You are definitely not running the patch. The message "Importing Product into Daz Studio..." should have the name of the runtime support file there.
That is why I recommend verifying the Smart Content before installation. Reload the configuration for this product (so the name and everything else is correct). If you forgot, you have to carefully make sure the name, id, store, and vendor are the same. You can change the categories from the Smart Content tab and reinstall the product.
Thanks! That did it :)
I was following your video and it didn't seem like the product ID was required. Is that always the case, or just because I installed a few from the same store so the product ID would be the only unique identifier?
Great! I *think* it is a combination of both. I think DS expects a unique identifier.
"Running the patch" meant that CW Patch Version was running. Not running the patch to update CW. The zip file at the head of the post contains 2 files. They need to be copied over the files from the original install, and are located in data/riversoft art/common
Did you have DAZ Studio running when you installed the patch files? It should be closed.
It was closed. I have no idea why this is happening. Sorry for the headaches.
I don't have time to use DS during the week, but I will be trying the patch on Saturday.. I am grateful Dr. Jellybean for your testing because you seem to be right in line with what I am looking to do!
Well, I'm out of ideas. I think this one has to be solved with the PA's help.
There are some issues with the metadata created for "characters".
A character for a specific base, say Alexander for G3M, should not be declared as "Alexander for G3M"; following the DAZ example, it should be declared as the base character: Genesis3/Male. If we are going to add the character itself, it should be listed as a compatability: Genesis3/Male#Alexander
This causes all kinds of issues. I wanted to make sure it persisted after I had patched, and it does persist. It utterly breaks smart content for the base character, requiring an uninstall and reinstall after fixing the offending metadata (at least that is what has worked so far; another fix is still pending).
Have I made the issue clear?
How was CW originally installed? There might be an extra RSSmartContentFunctions.dse somewhere else on your system.
Yes. This is a known issue I am working on. Thanks.
I used DIM to install.
I'm seeing the same problem that someone else reported: when I start Content Wizard, the beachball just appears and stays there for ... well, it hasn't gone away yet.
I have a rather large DAZ library (understatement of the decade), split into several different folders. Does CW have to scan everything when it starts up? And does it do that on every startup, or only on the first run?
Here's the log:
The beachball is still spinning and, as of now, it's been 15 minutes since the last WARNING message in the log (last line above).
MacOS X 10.14.6, DAZ Studio 4.12.0.86.
Only Berry (twiztedmetal) out of all my Renderosity models installed. The rest, interestingly, are from Maddelirium and will not install to smart content no matter which model I install. Hivewire install fine to smart content.
@RiverSoftArt - I have two feature requests :)
1. Is there a way I can use the exclamation point (!) in the Category folder name? I like to prepend them to the folder names so I can control the hierarchy. Right now if I assign a product with a Category name that includes a '!', I get an error.
2. Is it possible to add new Category folder names from within the menu that pops up when you click the "Categories..." button? I like to organize my content by product name from within custom folders, so I have to create the folders as I install the content.
Thanks!
Did you search your folder structure to make sure there are no other RSSmartContentFunctions.dse on your system?
It looks like there is a bug on the first run. I think it is scanning the wrong directory (probably your entire Daz Dir but I don't know at this point). After the first run and setting the working directory, I think it goes away.
Until we can get the patch installed on your system, it sounds like MDD characters will fail as Maddelirium seems to like ampersands (&).
What do you mean "assign a product with a category name that includes a '!'"? Do you mean that these are products you have bought but they won't work in CW? Or you are doing something else?
This is on my todo list but has low priority right now.
I finally got CW patch to work: I had made the mistake and placed the patch in the wrong folder. Apparently there's two Riversoft Art folders on my PC and I do not know why but both locations paths ends with : .......My DAZ 3D Library\data\RiverSoft Art\Common. Sorry for all the headaches, guys. Thanks for all the help.
One last thing, though. I inadvertantly created a LOCAL USER that shows up in smart content while I was figuring CW out and I have no idea how to get rid of it.
Awesome! And it works for you?
Do you mean the LOCAL USER product? That has always been there.
I will try and look into it.
Actually, don't worry about it - I can just rename the folders. I don't think they're absolutely necessary :)
There is a new patch that should fix the issue where installing a character's smart content breaks the smart content for all characters of that generation. Please get it from the first post of the thread.
