plugins and 3rd party software
Hello All. Brand new to all this. Downloaded Daz4.6. Purchased some content and things are looking good. What I am confused about is the many plugins and 3rd party software. My question is, what else do i need to compliment the software? like daz3d animate2 and mimic
or daz3d and carrera, or daz3d hexagon and bryce? etc...Is Poser just smithmicros version of daz3d? What R U guys using? Thanks
Comments
Hexagon and Carrara are both sold by DAZ 3D, but are NOT plugins, they are stand alone software packages.
Hexagon is a modelling application, and Carrara is an all-round modelling and animation package, as well as still renders. Bryce is another stand-alone application, and also has a froum here too.
Poser does belong to Smith Micro, and many people use it as well as DAZ Studio, have a look on the SM website for further details, or ask questions here in the Poser forum.
Animate 2 and Mimic are plugins for DAZ Studio, and they would be useful if you want to do animations, but are not required otherwise.
You will find that different people will recommend different Programs, even amongst those in the DAZ 3D stable of programs.
I, maybe surprisingly, use Bryce, and consider DS and Poser are merely programs to utilise to help my workflow within Bryce, ie to get figures into my Bryce scenes.
Daz Studio and Poser are similar, but have similarities and also differences in how they do things. Some people prefer one, some the other.
Bryce is marketed as a Landscaping program, although most experienced Brycers push it far past that designation. Hexagon is a modelling program, the DAZ 3D programs can be linked by the built in bridges, both Hexagon and Bryce have bridges to DAZ Studio or vice versa.
Thanks both for your reply. Im gonna go with daz3d mimic and animate2. I have platinum account and photoshop already. Should be able to create something without having to worry about other software for now right? Also, will hexagon work with windows 8.1 Thanks
I don't run Win 8, but Hexagon definitely works in Win 7. Does Win 8 not have a compatibility mode, like Win 7 has?
Gotta check that. Just got 8.1.
