Questions about utilizing V4 products
I'm still new at this and I'm trying to use the vast resources that are available for V4 in the new Genesis world. I purchased Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 Female & Genesis & Genesis 2 evolution Head & Body morphs. Do I still need to purchase V4.2 and V4.2++ body morphs? Is there some new product that has replace them or that can make them work? What are the V4 Elite products I occasionally see?
Comments
Hi, no you do not need V4.2 and V4.2++ body morphs. They only work with Victoria 4, not Genesis 1 or 2. As far as the elite skin textures: they are high quality skins that have fancy shaders to make them look realistic. Regular skins for Victoria 4 usually don't use fancy shaders. Sorry, but I don't know the exact details.
The elite morphs like V4 Elite Body Shapes are just different shapes for Victoria 4 that Daz makes.
Hope this helps.
Yes that helps! The Elite explanation is what I figured it was. As far as the V4.2++ I see many items and characters say " You must have V4.2 AND V4.2 morphs++ properly installed in order to get the desired results." I notice some characters I already have are not able to use the INJ & REM features. I did not really need them for these but before I spend money on other items I want to be sure they work properly.
Genesis can use V4 clothing. Autofit just does not do well with V4 shoes sometimes. There are add-ons to let you use V4 clothes on G2F. I have been fighting to get a pair of V4 shoes working on Genesis. The rest of the outfit does just fine though. I am kinda spoiled, I like the stuff designed for Genesis and Genesis 2 best as far as how easy it is to use. But I joined the Platinum Club and there is all that $1.99 V4 clothing. As far as I know, even without using the V4 shapes, V4 stuff can be fitted to Genesis, and G2F needs a small add-on to allow you fit V4 clothes to G2F. You don't have to only use V4 clothes with V4 shapes. To put G2F clothes on Genesis you need the Genesis 2 Female Clone for Genesis, it's like $11, so not too bad. To put V4 clothes on G2F you have two options you can use Sickle Rigging and Morphing System to by-pass autofit and convert it for Genesis, save it as an asset and put threw auto fit again to fit it to G2F. This is the more complicated option. The easier option is the V4 For the G2 Female add-on. When you buy a V4 outfit assume the shoes might not work and decide if you have something in the closet designed for who will wear it that will work if all else fails.
I anything that is a character set says that it is for V4 or requires V4 morphs++ then it will not work on Genesis or Genesis 2. It is designed to be used on V4.
A V4 character that says it requires V4++ morphs will not work on Genesis or Genesis 2, The skin materials can be used directly on Genesis 1. If you save the skin as a material preset on Genesis 1, it can be used on Genesis 2 Female if you have the Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 Female product. The body shape, however, will not work directly on Genesis 1 or 2.
The just released Genesis Generation X2 will transfer V4 body shapes to Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 with the GenX2 AddOn for Genesis 2. This, however, requires that you own V4.2, the V4.2++ morphs and whatever other morph packs the character uses (Elite, muscle, ...).
Without GenX, you can buy V4 characters just for the skin texture and create your own body shapes. I like the V4 Elite Skin textures. They come without a body shape, but they are generally more photo-realistic skin textures. The most recent image in my gallery here is V4 Elite Texture: Ariana setup to use the AoA SSS shader on Stephanie 6 HD. Changing skins to use the new AoA shader is not for newbies, but this skin already came with a pretty good shader setup.
Thanks everyone for the quick replies! I thought with the Genesis characters they would make them back compatible to V4.2 but V4.2 is V4.2 and that's it. I have been using the skin materials but found some facial morphs that I would not be able to replicate so I'm on board now. i will look into GenX and the Elite skin textures as well Mark. Thanks again!
