Can anyone tell me why Michael 5, Victoria 5 and Victoria 5 Supermodel appear in the "Figures" category, but all the others (Genesis2 female, dawn, Michael 6, Victoria 6 etc) appear in the "People" category?
Simple, Smart Content is NOT SMART. It relies entirely on metadata and that metadata is set up anyway its creator felt like at the time. Stop using using stupid Smart Content and learn how to arrange your won libraries and use Content Library tab in the future.

problem with the regular content library is that doesn't even have metadata at all and it far more prone to the random organisational skills of content creators. My content library is a mess. Can never find anything. Whenever i try to move folders to help organise things, the content stops working because all the paths are wrong :(

The whole point of the database based content management system is to make the actual location of the files irrelevant to using the content. But, until all the content has metadata, to populate the database with, the user will have to fill in and categorize things on their own. Moving the actual files belonging to the content is not a very good idea...even with relative paths. There is just too much of a chance of losing things...which means broken content.

This is odd, all my People are in the people folder just where I expect them. In my Content Library Tab they are here...
People>Genesis>Charcaters> V5 M5 F5 A5 S5 D5 BF BM YTJul YTJus and others...
People>Genesis 2 Female>Characters>V6 V6HD Gia Danika Opl and others..
People>Genesis 2 Male>Characters>M6 M6HD Brandon Logan Darc and others...
In my Smart Content Tab they are all in my Figures...
Figures>People>Female
Figures>People>Male
And I think they have always been listing this way on my PC... Double Checked, Yes they are all in People in either Tab. Just must be the Correct People folder is all. I got no Idea why that other one is there in Smart Tab.
I'm surprised that you're seeing newer figures (6th Generation) under Default/People in Smart Content -- some older content was done that way and might not have been updated yet, but QA established standards that should put them in Default/Figures/People. That's where all my 6th Generation figures are showing up.
All of my figures are in Smart Content > Default > Figures > People, except for a few old figures (Generation 3 and earlier) which are in Default > People.
I think you need to update your figures, particularly the Generation 6 ones (V6 and M6) if they are not appearing in the Figures > People tab.
Figures > People > Female contains:
Norma, Andrea, Dawn, Genesis 2 Female, Genesis, Victoria 6
People > Real world contains:
Michael 5, Michael 5 Heroic, Victoria 5 supermodel, Victoria 5
It's no biggie, I was just curious
Is that From the Smart Tab? If it is then your content is not up to date. With Genesis loaded I get no Real World listing for the G1 figures.
Ok, I didn't realise figures needed to be updated. I thought updating meant going up a generation (like V4 to V5). Isn't a figure a figure? What do they update about it?
Lots of content in the store is updated for one reason or another.
Sometimes errors in the packaging, bug fixes or other anomalies that come to light, and in this case, updated metadata. I have updates for products usually every week through DIM, which is a very good reason for using it.
Well just as you have seen the Figure Updates placed all my figures except one all into one folder. So... And not only has the metadata been corrected in many of the figures but any posing errors and other glitches as well.

You can also use Categories, and put everything where it is more logical for you to find it, without moving anything on your HDD.
You can also save your work so that you don't lose it in the case of a DB malfunction.

The only figure left in my People folder in Smart Content is Kuril. All the others have been updated to the Figures>People folder.

Sorry, let me be more specific.

Sounds like you have outdated versions of V5 and M5. Do you install manually or with DIM?

Just about everything in the store gets updated at least a couple of times...

EDIT: I now see that was mentioned...
