can I reduce spot render times?

I opened Stephanie 6 bald and added Carressed by Light. Then I did a spot render on the head and torso. Seemed to take forever.

Should I go to the render tab and reduce the quality settings there?

or is there a proper way to reduce the spot render times like this and even in much larger scenes?

Thanks!

Dax 4.6 and a quad core processor.

The image (plus breasts) took almost 7 minutes.

That is a very large render for a 'spot' render.

As far as I know, spot render uses exactly the same setup as your render settings, and it is used on a 'small' portion of the image, as an indication of how the final result will look.

In the case that you show, rendering just the head, or the neck and the tops of the shoulders should be enough to indicate what the final render will look like. The only way to know for sure how a render will look at the best settings, is to use them in a final render, but spot render can be very useful, if only used on a small area.

Get the Adamr001 Render settings scripts for DS4+ and use the Draft or Proof setting for test renders. Helps lots.
