Increasing downwards compatibility?

Community:
I'm new to Daz3d. I'd like to see where it can take me. I have a lot of ideas.
Currently, I'm running the 64bit version of Daz3d. My OS, win7.
System specs:
Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family
8gigs usable pc2-6400 ram.
Bus Clock: 266 megahertz
2.80 gigahertz Intel Core2 Duo
64 kilobyte primary memory cache
6144 kilobyte secondary memory cache
It's REALLY laggy in the viewport. I have my system all dialed down to look like Win98, so I can get more speed out of it, too.
Are there any settings I can throw to increase the reactivity of Daz3d, or is my only option to get a new PC or rip this one apart and install a better vid card?

The system requirements for both platforms are found here... http://www.daz3d.com/products/daz-studio/daz-studio-tech-specs maybe they can offer ideas as to which option would be the best for you to follow.
The viewport laggyness would be your graphics card. What do you have
Basically: "rip your laptop up and put in a new vid card". XD
There's your problem...Intel chipset graphics solutions are tuned for DirectX. Studio uses OpenGL. Intel's OpenGL implementation leaves a lot to be desired. Your best bet, if the system can handle it (and since it is a MOBILE, it's looking like this is a laptop or a small, prebuilt...HP/Dell/etc...machine that's more an 'appliance' than computer) is to add a real video card.
The dual core CPU isn't helping matters, much, either....but it isn't the deal killer the video is.
Go to Edit > Preferences > Optimization tab. Slide the "Texture Resources" slider all the way to the left (Performance). You can also try the 3 "Display Optimization" options to see which works best for you. Intel on-board cards have inferior OpenGL performance, but since it does work you may be able to improve the responsiveness..
Another thing that can seriously slow down the viewport, even on high end pcs, is stuff like high subd levels, collision detection, smoothing modifiers, ... dunno if you got that far yet :) , but only turn those on when you are ready to render (if you experience slow down)
