Reducing Fabric Textures for use with Fabricator in Gimp Solved

Okay, the maximum texture size fabricator wants is 700. I am looking at some fabric texture packs with a size of 1000 to 1024 squares. I will be using gimp to reduce these. Will I be able to use these textures or will reducing them that much ruin them? I figured the 800 ones I would be able to reduce. I'm just not sure about 1000 sized ones and distortion. If anybody has tried please let me know if those textures are just too big to reduce that much.

I've used textures in Fabricator that are much larger than 700 x 700 and they work fine.

Where does it say that the maximum size is 700?

Thanks! I re-read it in the instructions for making presets for the fabricator in a how to document from ShareCG. It said pics from 300 to 700 px look best. But I tested it, and the higher resolution textures look better than if you reduce them. Also reducing the texture doesn't make the pattern appear any different in size. I did notice some of the large textures generated a smaller print size. I think this is all that was referring to. I found I must set the tiles to 10 to see how they will look because applying a weave always sets them to 10. There seems to be no way to change the size the of the pattern and use a weave on the cloth. But I went ahead and bought some larger textures and they do work nice and look good. After thinking about it, I suppose I could try to edit the weave textures and make them work for different sized prints. But that is a little too much work for me today. I am making presets for those texture packs I bought.

Thanks again for the help. I am having so much with all the stuff I got for texturing things. I am always proud of myself when I dig in and learn something.

Glad you got sorted. I don't know if you know but I have several Texture packs on Share that I made to go with Fabricator.

Yes! I grabbed them all. The floral one is my fav. I love being able to texture things by clicking. Its addictive.
