I'm trying to use the Measure Metrics Plug-In to measure the height of my character?

I'm trying to figure out how to use this Daz 3D plug in to measure the height of my character? https://www.daz3d.com/measure-metrics-for-daz-studio

i'm trying to measure the exact height from the lowest point of the foot to the highest point of the top of the head but i can't figure out how to do it correctly. basically i'm trying to use different morphs to make another character the same exact height down to the cm so it isn't possible to just simply dial the morphs in the same because they will be different morphs. the only way i could think of to pull this off was to get this measurement plug in to measure the first model and then mess with the morphs until the height matches up with the tape measurer.

by parenting it to the model i got it to snap to the bottom (i think?) but i have no idea how to get it to snap to the top of the model now?

does anyone else have any experience with how to do this? i would greatly appreciate it.

EDIT - well i found a script it came with called measure metrics and used that to get the figure height but it is giving me the base genesis figure height without the orphs applied. as in, even if i turn up the height morph the measurement that it throws back stays exactly the same at about 5'9" and i know my figures are way taller than that. i'm not sure what's happening there.

  • Missed seeing you had a new thread.  LOL, had just suggested measure metrics in other thread.

A special node automatically snaps to top of head.   See screenshot.  Marked which order to push the scripts.  You will have to find these scripts.  What you see in screenshot is my own custom categories.

thank you! problem is that for some reason i'm unable to find the measurents for G8 only the G3 one i have no idea why. There's only the one installer right? other than that i was able to find the script marked "1" in your example image but i'm unable to find "2" anywhere. is there a way to view scripts somehow?

  • in your daz runtime go to scripts>utilities

okay i checked in there and unfortunately that script did not pop up in there. you meant in the content library tab right?

  • type the word metrics in your search bar at top - brings up everything including the scripts

i knew i was bad at this but i must be worse than i thought. nothing shows up when i search period. no matter what i search. i search hit enter or click the magnifying glass and still nothing for some reason.

  • finding all the script utilities for measure metrics wasn't the easiest for me either.

here's another screenshot marking the folders in order that you need to open.

Only difference you will have is for #2.  I have custom directories so I called mine _DazStuff.  Don't remember default name anymore.  But it should be the First folder once you open up #1.

Just a wild idea, I don't know what your priority is but, have you tried right clicking on the '1' that you did find and select 'brows to file location' just to make sure tht the '2' is there?  You'll also know what to search for. I find when I search if something is called 'MyName1' but, if I type 'Name' in the search field then 'MyName1' doesn't show up. I know my search on my mac is a bit hit an miss too since I have so many filew stored on.

Also I get you're just wanting to get the thing working but I usually measure something by importing it into blender or I make a cylinder to the height I want then make the figure fit that cylinder. Just as a work around. Someone on deviantart made a metrics wall too. It's free but I can't find it on my computer. :) I probably didn't install it.

That search quirk happens on win7 too. If I search for male for example, it won't show female, even though it contains male in there. Usually that's a good thing though, as I only search for male or female when I am dividing up a multi character product for my various "runtimes" lol.

I can't figure out how to get this to work either. I can find the 'Measure Metrics' pane and the 'Figure Metrics' script in utilities but can't find those wearables or any guide on how to use the scripts. The link provided above by Richard just leads to a page holder with no actual content.

Thanks for this pointer, Sevrin - I probably should have thought of YouTube, although I can't be the only one who thinks utilities ought to have at least some guidance bundled with them, rather than having to rely on a third party (and a 43 minute video).
