I don't think I have done V4 clothes on G2F- I think some of those had both options, aka a V4 setup and a G2F option. There may have been a few hair products, but I'm not sure. I have so much clothes for G2 that I haven't dived into the V4 closet. :) (Unless the studio has it unorganized, as I use content library and do the people>Gen 2 Female>Clothes route.
I haven't done GenX yet of anything. So I guess now I'll try the X2 and see how to do it with the Victoria 4 figures. Let me take a look (is there a tutorial on that thing? I am NOT spending 9 hours on THAT, lol.)
I've never used that, but I have it. :) I'll have to explore that, maybe next week.
What is Phil's product?
http://www.daz3d.com/eye-surface-for-genesis It is a conforming piece of geometry which follows the genesis morphs just as clothes do. It's just like g2's eye reflection (eye surface) except it's separate piece and not part of the genesis figure. I think the product description explains it really well.
Yeah, I found it. :) I said I needed to start using all this stuff I buy. Often, when there's sales, I'll scoop things up to try them, and never get around to it. I'm going to go take a peek at the GenX stuff but do Phil's stuff too.

There is a whole thread on GenX http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/24079/ I know many problems people where having were resolved and explained over there. I do not have it so I won't be able to help you with that though.
I must have seen your v4 figures in v4 clothes and mistaken them for g2fs. ;) I do not use v4 and use v4 clothing only on g2 and genesis figures. Using autofit is quite easy though results will vary. You simply select your figure and double-click on the desired clothing item (just as you would if it were a g2f item), a pop-up should appear. In the first line you choose for which figure the item was originally designed (in your case v4) and in the second what type of clothing item it is (eg.: pants). When you've chosen your options click Accept and your item should autofit to g2f without any problems. You might need to apply smoothing modifier to the clothing item if there are any poke-throughs. Dresses and tunics can be a pain but this product by Sickleyield helps a lot: http://www.daz3d.com/sickle-dress-rig-genesis-2-female
I'll go read that forum, thanks so much!
Meanwhile, here's what I was doing.
I can see where all this gets confusing. There are a lot of products!
For instance, this one:
http://www.daz3d.com/v4-and-m4-shapes-for-genesis
Description:
Now you can add the most popular DAZ 3D male and female shapes ever created onto the Genesis base figure. With this morph pack you will be able to dial up the Genesis base figure to 100% Victoria 4, Michael 4, or mix and blend them with each other or any other figures or combination of figures you may have for the Genesis base. By adding these iconic shapes to your Genesis figure portfolio, you begin to see the power of Genesis.
Okay, so this product let's you "dial up the Genesis base figure to 100% Victoria" so what this one does is ONLY the pure Victoria 4, pure Michael 4- and has nothing to do with any of the V4 characters such as Bianca or Emily, right? And if installed, it just places morph sliders in Parameters>Actor I would assume?
That's how I understand it. Just new shapes for genesis.
So from that thread on GenX and GenX2
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/24079/
I found this- which totally blows my mind that anyone could follow it. But the very first sentence makes it sound like the product I just used (V4 for Genesis 2) to do the materials instead of the Auto Converter...also can be used as V4 morphs in Genesis 2? (Remember I asked the questions about the shapes, if the V4 For Genesis 2 was just for materials?)
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/24079/P45 (this post, below)
What I’m saying is that with the V4 for G2, you dial up that V4 morph in G2 and then dial up the morph-made-for-V4 converted via expanded GenX. That is rather than what D3D wrote which was to dial up both the V4 morph and the Gen1 morph in G2 and then the morph-made-for-V4 converted via expanded GenX. That is to say, if you have the V4 for G2 you just dial that up, rather than the G1 morph and an expanded GenX converted V4 for G1 morph before then applying the converted morph-made-for-V4. A V4 for G2 replaces having to use both the G1 morph and a V4 for G1 converted morph to get G2 into the V4 shape. Of course you need the expanded GenX to convert the morph-made-for-V4 to G2 to then apply onto the V4 shaped G2 - that’s a given.
Oh help.
Does anyone have this?
"This little script will convert material poses and scripts for the generation 4 Poser figures (V4, M4) into scripts that can be applied to the Genesis 2 figures. There is a DS version and a Poser Python version included.
Please note that this script only replaces the material names in material poses/scripts. It does not change the UV-mapping. It does not work with compressed, compiled, or encrypted files."

Oh yippee! A tutorial with screenshots regarding GenX. I haven't gone through it yet though.

Edit: another thread with screenshot tutorials. Simpler.

Check your emails before you shop. There is a $10 off $30 if you buy one of the top 30 (listed in email)
That includes Aiko 6, showing at 51% off. So folks who waited can get $10 off the Aiko 6 Pro Bundle price at 51% off already. What was it when it was released? 51%?
Never mind, it says it can't be used on new releases.
It's OK, I got all excited when I had seen Aiko6 Pro in that list, then it hit me. I have Aiko6 starter already, and I have spent all my play funds this month already.
At 2pm today, Jaderail was laid to rest.
It's as expected for me today, when I was answering someone's question about taking things off the C drive and installing elsewhere, of COURSE the thread I directed them to was when mjc1016, fixmypcmike, and Jaderail talked me through it. So even today, all over the forums, Jaderail is still pitching in and helping out.
And I just want to say thank you to everyone who has ever helped me- ever. I don't take you for granted, and I know I can ask about whatever has me stumped, even if it's something I used to know but just plain forgot. I'm the type that if I don't use it every day, I'll have to relearn it. I do have to admit, I get tickled sometimes when us "oldies" (the opposite of newbies) find out some very simple thing that we just didn't know- aka, holding down the CTRL button when loading a figure and turning off the XYZ translations, keeps the figure in place. (You know who you are, that just found that out!) :) Or using ALT to drag a prop into the viewport and (kinda) into place. That took me a YEAR to find out! (Go ahead, laugh.)
So keep on asking, and there's no stupid question. I've probably already asked it anyway, so you wouldn't be the first! :) Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has the patience with me to keep answering the same things repeatedly.
I'm going through all the previous threads to find my list of categories for someone (yep, I meant what I said when I told them it might take awhile!) and I got the giggles when I re-read this original post by Barbult. Go to the last image, the backside of the briefs. She was going to report that "splotch" as an error. Read down a couple posts to see what that turned out to be. See if you know, without cheating, what was on those briefs. It was SO much fun going back through all my threads, I've been doing it for hours and I had completely forgotten about this. Get a chuckle with the blast from the past! (You'll need to read down about 5 posts, where I tell Barbult and SereneNight what it is.)

You never stop learning! For instance, I didn't know about the Ctrl and load figure trick...and I've been using Daz for years...o_o Thanks, Novica! :)
The passing of Jaderail has really made me want to help people, the way I've been helped in the past, even when I was just stalking forum threads mooching advice from other people. :p I like the mentor a member idea. Where can I adopt a newbie? :p
I think there are a few over at New user, and I don't have Poser, so Adrella... (Commons)

Just returning after a few years. Installing Zips without DIM.
Mahala for G2F, I knew I was missing someone in my wishlist, lol.
Chat later, many places to meat, things to be, and people to visit. lol.
LOL- I know that feeling. Something it seems the entire universe knows, except me.
I have one email I just treasure- from a pretty experienced user. About the third month I started using DAZ, I emailed and told her I had to laugh at myself- I was manipulating ALL my lights by selecting them in Scene tab, then moving the sliders in the Parameters tab. I joyously told her I had just discovered that you could select that light out in the viewport (instead of Perspective view, use the drop down and select, say, Spotlight 1) and the view would become the light.
"Oh no," she emailed back patiently. Those are just views. They don't do anything. At least I don't THINK they do."
"Well," I emailed, "I turned off all my other lights, including the default, so it's pitch black. And I"m telling ya, Spotlight 1 is moving around in my viewport as I move my view!"
I laughed so hard when she emailed me back and said, "Oh seriously. You're right!!"
(And NO, it wasn't my buddy SereneNight. Just to be clear on that!)
I also found out that if you select a figure in the Scene tab then click the bracket with the plus sign, your view jumps right to the figure or prop you have selected. Great for big scenes. That only took 4 months for me to learn....
And going back through thread 1, I just found earlier this afternoon: (I knew the first, forgot Richard's tip)
Information From Jaderail:
Adding a EXTRA light is Always done From Create Menu. If done any other way the Default is to REPLACE all lights with the New one. If you wish to ADD a Preset Light you Right click and Merge or it also will replace all other lights.
Tip from Richard Haseltine:
Also, you can hold down ctrl (cmd on a Mac) when double-clicking the light preset and choose to Add the lights rather than replacing the lights, or to replace only certain lights.
I've been popping in on the New User thread, but some of those questions don't seem like the users are very new. I think they're new to an aspect of the studio. I'm sure they'd love to have a PA help them out. And pop in here- we can always use your advice and knowledge! Welcome anytime!
Aside from answering questions in the New User forum (and elsewhere), we (the Community Volunteers) always appreciate those who offer advice in the monthly New User contest:
I went through all the threads (1-4) and I haven't had a chance to put the renders/product discussions alphabetically/by vendor, and that just isn't going to be possible anytime soon. If I do that, I won't have any time to experiment with shaders, lights, Silo, GenX, etc- and while I like helping out, I have to move forward with testing and learning things. One thing I am doing, however, is consolidating all the renders with links to the posts so you can have a handy reference to see only the RENDERS.
That thread will become thread 5 in a few weeks, as we are going to hit 1500 posts within that timeframe. That thread is NOT open for product discussions right now, but is available if you want to comment on the renders linked from there. When the thread becomes Thread 5, I'll simply move those posts down one place so there will be the usual introductory post. The render links will remain as permanent posts.
Enjoy! (thread 1 done, working on thread 2 this week.)
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/44327/
Heads up- Something REALLY whacky is going on with the posts. The links are not pulling up the correct renders. When I clicked on the post number and did a copy paste (like I've done a thousand times) they are not directing back to the post. I'll have to test this tomorrow.

Nice one Sasje! That gold dragon looks beautiful, and like real metal. Love the lighting too. =-)
Thank you SereneNight :)
I always enjoy your work, Sasje. You have style! :) I especially like the expressions and yes that wonderful lighting shining on metal that SereneNight mentions. Just beautiful.
I think the spirit of it is really cute- the tilt of the head and the tail curling up. Like, "Can we play now?"

I'll keep that in mind! However, there already seems to be a lot of people who jump in to give advice on various forums, which is really nice to see! And in regards to the Atmospheric thread, I'll steer clear of that one. People are achieving more than I can with that! :p Perhaps I should go pick over it more and learn. ;)
Saiyaness, that is a really nice gallery cover render. I like that sward.

If you folks get Xiao Mei.. (and the bundle was under $14 if you had bought Lee)
Try the Eruanna lights, out of the box. Then you can do some minor tweaks and have a pretty good render. This is no adjustments whatsoever! However, note...
The Piratess Hair scarf does not render well under these lights, seems very blurred for the head piece. The hair seems the same way. Will have to render it sometime under different lights. I just wanted to test the hair as I just bought it last week. As usual, Aave's clothes are wonderful and fun. I didn't use any of the morphs, but there are tons to move the shirt fabric.
Xiao Mei was put on the Genesis 2 Female base.
