Is it possible to bring figures from Poser into DAZ directly?

I own Apple Store Poser Debut. It's great to have several figures preinstalled. But I don't like the UI much. Besides, it always crashed when quit after OSX 10.7 emerges.

In Debut version, we can export to OBJ file with no texture (I don't know about full version). The question is, is there any tweak or trick to bring Poser figures to DAZ? What a pity. It's there but we can't use it.

DAZ Studio has always been able to open Poser Format files. The newest ones, Poser 9 and upwards, may use a different rigging system to the DS weight mapped one, but anything older can certainly be opened.

Just go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, and list the path to the folder which 'holds' your Poser Runtime folder (not the runtime folder itself), and DAZ Studio will be able to see it in the Content Library pane.

Thank you Jimmy. But I mean the "pre-installed figures" like Alyson or alike. If I should use Content Directory Manager, I have to point it to the user's folder, right? How to point it to the built-in ones?

You can add as many content directories as you need to, with little regard to where they are actually located (one in Program Files can be problematic). So all you need to do is find where that runtime is located (on my system it's in a Poser Debut Content folder...but I'm not sure if that was where the installer put it or where I put it) and add that to DS's Content Directory Manager.

Mine was added to C:\Users\Public\Documents\Poser Debut Content and that is the path that needs to be entered inside DS (in my case at least) As mjc1016, I am not sure if I redirected the install or not, but that may be where yours is too.

I just added that path to Poser Formats, and I can see all of the content, like Alyson.

Thank you mjc1016 and Jimmy. Now I'm pretty sure that I have no hope since there is no Poser Debut Content on my Mac drive. It should be the way of the app from App Store. Even to establish a user folder is quite different to conventional method. (you may see this at https://support.smithmicro.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2352/~/installing-new-content-into-the-mac-app-store-version-of-poser-debut.)

I will be very delighted if anyone can point out what I still misunderstand.

P7 and older figures work in DS, but P8 figures have extras in the rigging that DS can't use, so they deform rather badly when posed. So while most of the "free" content that comes with Debut will work in DS, Alyson & Ryan don't, they and their content would need to be rerigged before they would work, but why would you want to load those two, they are by far the fugliest figures to ever be available in Poser.

    @ Bejaymac

Do you mean Poser 9 and above, that was when the Poser rigging system changed?

I loaded Alyson, and used lots of poses on her, and Sydney G2 as well, even clothed her, all inside DS4.6 Alyson may not be the prettiest girl in the world, but people get fed up with glamour :)

Nope P8, they added new rigging tech to P8 that stopped figures from working properly in older versions of Poser & DS. I'm a couple of builds back from the general release, so unless Rob and the team have upgraded the Poser converter plugin then all of that P8 rigging tech will be missing from the rig in DS.

P9 was when they added WM rigging, but only after finding out DS4 was to have WM rigging.

    EDIT

The attached is what I get in 4.6.1.33 with Alyson, the torso has crumple zones along most of it's length, the shoulders don't sit right, and then there's the hands.

I find them quite useful...for corpses, zombies and the like. In fact the 'horrible' deformations are an asset when you want hordes of undead.

    Dungtrin

According to that link the folder should have been automatically setup the first time Debut is run.
You may be better of asking over in the poser forum or at the official Poser forums on RDNA.

Ah, I understand clearlier. Actually what I need is not human figures. But animal, creators, cartoons, sort of. Thank you for knowledge.

Yes, Poser 9 Debut is the only one option on App Store. Alyson, not rendered, is like a cursed rabbit, my two cents :-D

Thank you prixat. I have no problem with my own old figures in private user folder. I'm asking for the way to load complete built-in figures. Poser Debut seems to put everything behind the scene.
