Does anyone know how to convert v4 poses to genesis?

V4 poses will work on Genesis 1 or 2, the results can be just a little off, especially with the hands and feet.

I have the product Handy Dandy and it does a pretty good job of fixing hand and feet poses. You will probably still need to make some adjustments to the pose, but this is almost always true unless you are using the pose on exactly the character it was intended for.

I never have problem with the hands and feet just the body seems to come out strange. I have FM inquisition and the arms always come out in the body.

Many poses from the Gen4's do that on the Genesis figures, the only fix is to hand edit the pose on the figure once used. I prefer to select the Genesis body part in the viewport and use the quick pose tool (the ball in the upper left corner) to fix. If you do a Boo Boo a undo puts you right back so you can try again.

Okay in you Viewport Options have the Pose Tool checked ON. Then select a part of Genesis or any figure and the Pose Tool pops on screen. The Colored bars and the mark on them are the rotations of the selected joint. Its easy to use once you play with it some. You just pointer over the BAR you wish to move and HOLD your left mouse button down to move the pose.

EDIT: The center BALL is free rotation and works also.

Ha I've seen that thing once and never saw it again. Probably need to change the layout to get it back.

I run the City Limits layout. It opens all the Menus and menu options. From there I customized the Viewport layout to my liking and I then have all the tools at my use.

I would have to try the very same pose on the Same figure you have with all the morphs it has used to figure that out. Some poses I just avoid as too much work to bother with and I do my own version of the pose by hand.

I'm sorry I don't follow. I do a lot of editing by hand but there are not alot of things for genesis. So I have to buy v4 poses genesis is the best figure even better than genesis 2 get with the program people!

You can pose all the figures yourself is my point. You do not have to buy anything. And I have a rather LARGE collection of poses for Genesis myself so I'm not following.. This is just to the Start of the I's...

For adjusting 4th generation poses on Genesis...there is this...

    http://www.sharecg.com/v/60135/browse/21/DAZ-Studio/Genesis-V4-pose-adjust-script

I use it quite often, and while not perfect, it does save a lot of time. It is primarily for V4/M4 but also works with K4 poses, too. Sometimes, I like the adjusted version better than the original pose on the intended figure.

You lost with the morph talk is what I meant .....that link didn't work but I think I know what your talking about but I don't know how to use scripts. I really should just give up on this stuff.

You do need to register to be able to download stuff from ShareCG, but it should take you to the page that contains the description.

To use the script, you place it in your Scripts folder...then it will show up in your Content Library. Then you load Genesis, apply your V4 pose...then with Genesis selected (Scene tab), go to your pose folder and click that script...it will run and automatically adjust the pose.

Morphs are the DIALS that change the SHAPE of genesis. I would need my Genesis to have the same shape as yours when I used the same V4 pose to figure out WHY the body changed shape from the pose.

I am already registered with sharecg that's how I knew what you were talking about. However I think it is time I quit this stuff l have already put far too much money into this and I'm not really creating anything its all other people's creations. Kinda sucks owell bad investment you live and you learn. ;-P

Well DAZ Studio is mostly a Render program that you can rig meshes made in other things like Hexagon or Blender with. Not so much a creation tool on it's own. Hope you reconsider or make stuff then rig it for DAZ Studio. But that's up to you.

Yea that sounds like more money and more things I don't understand. Thanks for the help I just wish I had a Daz dictionary when you post your talking over my head with this stuff.

Well basically I mean in DAZ Studio we all use premade stuff to just make pictures. It's really what DS is for. And it does take time to learn how to do it all and learn what folks like me mean when we say things like Rig.

Have you made any of your own figures?

I'm a hobby artist, I do not create content. But I do know many people who do. I'm a friend of the ArtCo team that sales here at DAZ 3D and with Chohole who does wonderful textures for clothing sets and Spyro who has made some very good Free content for Poser and DAZ Studio. Thats just the ones I know the best, I do know many others. The Jaderail character in my AVATAR is a hand dialed Genesis 2 Male based on the Michael 6 figure that I have fully customized myself.

By fully customized you mean morphed? I tried putting a rendered image up as an avatar but it said it was to big hmm go figure.

Just wanted to pipe in, I have been playing with Daz for quite a while, still know little, still enjoy it, still have a ton to learn and still get lost when people like Jaderail talk and still need to search for some of the terms they use in the various tutorials around here or in google, but everyday I learn a bit more, get a bit better and enjoy what I create just that little bit more.

So stick to it and I think things will get better. That being said I would just hole yourself up and just create with what you have, fiddle, make mistakes, build and build.

Finally, judging by several of your other threads with character examples there and based on some of my experiences, some of your deformity issues with the poses could be coming from larger musculature on your figures, you may have to adjust the poses by hand to lessen bends at joints to prevent the muscles and mass from colliding.
That and keeping limits on with v4 poses and genesis is your friend at least in my experience, I have had some scarily horrendous results using v4 poses on genesis and Genesis 2 if I accidently select turn limits off in the pop up when applying them.

The Avatar's are added from your Your Control Panel just above the right of all Forum pages. When you select Edit Avatar it will list the Total size of both aspects for you, Image Size is 100X100 max with a File size off 100Kb max.

Also there is a glitch in Avatar files, if your current Avatar is png your next should be jpg to force a swap, the file types I use are png to jpg to gif and then back to png ect ect ect.... that always forces the new Avy to display.

By fully customized I mean I sat down loaded my M6 figure and then used a bit of every morph dial I had at the time for the G2M head and face to create a fully custom face. My Jaderail is not a copy of any other figure it is 100% my design from the M6 base. Most of the M6 was dialed out and replaced by my custom dialed morphs. I've shared my Jade settings fully with only a few others who happen to be in a group that enjoys doing renders about our characters and poking fun at each other. My Jade is not like any figure sold at DAZ 3D or any other site. It is my creation from a G2M M6 base.
