Genesis 8 white eyes

Hello. I'm new to daz studio just started a few weeks ago. Anyway the g8 figures all load up with white eyes, no pupil or irises, just a white eyeball. Is that how that character comes and we have to buy eye textures or something?

No, they should have iris and pupil.

    Where do you see it?

    Maybe attach a screenshot.

  • Which preview mode are you using? They should load with the Eye Surface set to transparent.

so when a load up a genesis 8 figure their eye are completly white, no pupil or iris. is this a bug or am i missing something?

so one screenshot is the genesis 8 loaded by itself and the second is with the g2 and g3

mmm not sure. when I load any other genesis figure they have eyes but if I load the g8 figure in the same scene as the other genensis figures or by itself it has white eyes

Please do not make more than one thread on the same topic.

Looks like there is something wrong with the material.

Does the same happen for G8F?

Anyway, try to select the character and open the surface tab. In the surface tab expand sufaces Gebesis 8 Male > Surfaces.

Then check Irises and that there is a image texture in Base Color, which is the basic iris material

And check Cornea where you have to scroll down a bit to Refraction Weight, which should be at 1.0.

That is the texture shaded preview mode, which is sort of okay for Genesis 2 and 3 default 3DL materials, but not really for Genesis 8 default Iray materials. How does Genesis 8 look in Iray preview mode, or in IRay renders?

  • I don't see this issue in Texture Shaded, on this machine or on my old machine (which had only a 750Ti card). What are your settings in Edit>Prefrences>Interface?

Me? I think I know where you're going. I use per-pixel shading, which does make a difference with the eyes, now that I remove it, but makes everything else on the figures very glossy. I turned that on ages ago when Iray materials on some products were giving that psychedelic colour-cycling in the viewport, and never think about it anymore.

  • Hello, I'm having a similar problem. I've been tinkering with it, but I can't seem to fix it. Attached is a spot render of my character's eye and a look at the surface settings with the texture. I didn't have this problem before today and I use Genesis 8 male A LOT. Any help would be wonderful. Thanks!

  • I had this problem at least 2 years ago, but it only occurred with the G8 Male, not the Female, plus I got totally black sockets, not white.. I put it in a ticket about it, but I never had the problem solved, so I've only ever used one G8 Male in a composition and although I now forget how I somehow managed to get G3 Male eyes to load into the G8.

  • I fixed this by

    1. selecting G8 Male in the Scene tab
    2. selecting the G8 Male in the Surfaces/Editor tab
    3. moving to the Surfaces/Presets tab, and picking Materials - Iray - Genesis 8 Male - Base Mat All Maps.

It worked immediately, and it was even visible in Filament (PBR) preview.
