Surfaces confusion

I like most of the Daz studio 4 layout. However for a beginner like myself, I am finding it very confusing when it comes to the use of Surfaces.

I have the "Figures, Characters, and Avatars" book by LES PARDEW which shows how to use the earlier version of Daz Studio 2.2. I have been using this book as a kind of guide.

In Daz studio 4, is there a way of making the "Surfaces tab" similar to the way it was in Daz studio 2.2? In the earlier version the detachable Surfaces pane was further divided into 2 sections, basic and advanced, with the basic part divided into more manageable sections: Colour, Highlight, Opacity and Shadow.

In Daz Studio 4 , the Surfaces(colour) tab is good but there is such a lot of it which makes it highly confusing and complex. Or is there a way of simplifying it?

Thanks in advance

I know somebody out there will know how to do this.

There isn't an equivalent of the basic tab, but you can type property names, full or partial, into the filter box at the top of the pane to limit what shows.
