Hi Gang... yay.. I'm done early for a change this month.  lol.  Had some time to play with Iray... still not loving the graininess... Not sure how to fix it with this computer.  (sighs)... Anyway... How about some 'WET N DRY HONEY BEEzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz?'  Enjoy.

Very nice Llola Lane and I say grain be danged full render ahead. Funny how we try to clean the grain out of our art while many photographers are trying to add grain. My question, is the hony bee filling up or is he stuck?

Well Done Sisyphus1977, I went to school with her grandmother, old gal was OK but not as bright or pretty as her grandaughter.

Humm... either or Dee... lol.  I was thinking both... lol.  So true what you say about graininess... Maybe I should just embrace it.... at least I didn't have specklies to fix this time... lol.

Specklies are not a problem, just unleash some fireflies on them and after they eat the specklies unscrew the fireflies light bulb.

    LOL... I'll try that!

Playing with those filters that come with Iray can help with graininess. Or increasing render time. Or render quality.

Or.. render big and then reduce the size of the image when it's done ;)  Lots of tricks to get there. Experimenting is fun :D

That said, cute little bees :D As, and some people hog all the sunlight, don't they?

Hi Mori.. Thanks... I have tried ALL your suggestions... Problem is.. I don't have a Nvidia graphics card so the filters don't work... and I've done SEVERAL experiments with reducing size and the renders take 4times longer to render bigger and when I reduce them down to my favorite size (1024x1024) The specklies are still there!  I know you are trying to help but whomever started that rumor about rendering bigger and shrinking down should have their eyes examined... It does NOT work!!!  (I may start a thread for that discussion... grrrr)  Experimenting is frustrating for me... Specially when I have to wait hours for the render to finish.  You are like the 50th person to tell me that.  As you can see... I'm quite frustrated.. sorry... Hugzzzzzzz

Lighting can make a very big difference. Iray needs a lot of light.

You can also use the Intel denoiser, no NVidia required : Denoise renders and save a LOT of time! (Nvidia not Reqd)

Thanks Xmas... I have since added more lighting and it does not fix the issue either for me... Specially if I add DOF... I get LOTS of specklies in the blurred off area.

I also checked that thread link a while back and couldn't make heads or tails of WHAT I'm supposed to do.... I may look at it again this weekend.  It was a very confusing thread.  lol

I avoid DOF in Daz, I do it in postwork. Much faster.

DOF works great with 3Delight... I guess you must render background separate from main subject... then postwork the two renders together???  I've done that... but doing it in Daz is more realistic.

  • xmasrosexmasrose Posts: 1,403

Yes it is more realistic in DS but it takes too much time on my computer. Sometimes I render using canvases to apply the DOF in post, sometimes I just fake it with focal/lens blur. I only render in Iray now.

I am TRYING to learn/use Iray more... Thanks for sharing your workflow... I have a hard time wrapping my head around post work... probably cause I'm only medeocre at it... lol.  but.. I keep pluggin' along!

    Posting my bent/straight entry early.

    Don't Touch!

    Seriously, people, stop doing this.

  • Looks to me like BFF's in the park, best two out of three to decide who gets the first date with the new guy in town. Well Done Gordig
