White Yeti?

I purchased the Yeti HD and it only has two materials: Glacier and Woodland Sasquatch.

I thought the Glacier would be white as in the promo images, but it is a dark grey when I render it (see third image).

Is there a way to turn the Glacier version a mostly white material as in the promo?

I've given up on trying to get this Yeti fur to be white as in the promo image. It's really just a dark grey when you do a render.

I've tried changing the lights, the surface colors of the hair, you name it. And it just renders grey.

I don't think they should have shown a white fur Yeti on the product if it's not a white material. There is just brown and grey as materials.

Disappointed beyond words right now. sad

Which render engine do you use?

I don't have that product, so I can't test it.

I am considering if it can be related to ligth setup. Does it look the same if you render it with an HDRI?

I'll try that and let you know. Thanks.

It's a really nice product. So you should definitely consider it. Details are amazing. And the brown material makes a great Big Foot too.

Your image looks as if there's still still quite a bit of grain which won't help the white fur,  I do have this product and its not easy trying to get it real white, good  lighting is very important.

Thanks, that was just a mock up in the viewport I posted. The longer renders still look grey, but I think you are right, it's probably the lighting.

  •   Hi. It has been several months since you posted this, so I don't know if this is any use to you but...

I had the same problem (also using Iray). I finally discovered that if you simply run the Iray Uber Base script (with the yeti hair selected in the Surface tab), it seems to result in white hair in the final render.

There you are!!! Okay ... I put together a few notes for getting a whiter {or any other colour} Yeti. They do apparently come in white as well as several other colours including mixtures. And also mankind apparently does have samples of real fur, etc. - but for whatever reasons aren't big on sharing the knowledge.

Thanks! One of these solutions has to work. I had originally tried fiddling with the "Glacier" fur to get it white with no luck in the Surfaces tab. I'll try your method, and the Uber Base method as well. :) The product really needs to be updated to produce a white yeti out of the box - or they need to remove the promo image. I was really bummed when I bought this product because I got it specifically for the white version. So to me, it's false advertising. frown
