Install manager wont show up
I'm trying to get back into DAZ after a long hiatus.
I downloaded the DAZ3D Installation Manager, it seemed to install correctly, but I can not get it to show on the screen or use it to download any content.
I did a manual download of DAZ3D 4.6.2. That installed and started normally, but I can't find any of the content
I know that the content can be manually installed. I'm just too lazy to start doing that right off the bat.
So, my main issue is with the DIM. Why wont it show me the screen I see in all the examples?
The Task manager shows it as an active process.
Any ideas?

What OS are you using, and version?
Did you download and install DIM from the DAZ 3D Store from one of the links? Is there a Shortcut icon on your desktop?
DIM installs by default into C:\Program Files (x86)\DAZ 3D\DAZ3DIM1 as it is a 32 bit application. Do you have it installed there? Mine is listed as 71.9 MB
Running Win7, Home Premium.on an i5 with 8Gb RAM and Nvidia 620 graphics card
downloaded from a link on the Daz site. Install appears to be normal,
I have a shortcut icon, the install folder is 71.9 MB
When I click on the shortcut, I get the little spinny cursor for a few seconds, then nothing.
I even left the 'run now' box at the end of the installation checked, Same result
every time I try to start it, I get an instance in the Task manager 'processes' tab
I tried uninstalling everything and starting from a cold boot, no change . . .
this is very frustrating.
This is a bit of a swag, but try running DIM as administrator - just right-click on the desktop DIM icon.
Had the same issue some time ago. I am not 100% sure but I think this problem is caused by some missing "public" folders. Especially "Public Documents". Did you delete this folder? DIM is trying to write files into this folder and if it is not there, then DIM does not open because it did not install correctly.
Tried to run it as 'Administrator', no joy . . .
All of the default public folders are in place in their default locations
even tried running the installer as 'Administrator' . . .
I'm totally out of ideas
Have you tried going to the DIM application folder at C:\Program Files (x86)\DAZ 3D\DAZ3DIM1 and running it from there as opposed to using the shortcut?
There is also a Restore Defaults app in there, and an uninstaller folder. Try uninstalling and reinstalling.
Yup, tried all that too . . .
The DIM hits the NET at start to function. Check that your OS or Anti Virus is not Blocking the OPEN of dim as a possible NONE allowed application. It could be flagged as Maleware, spyware or unapproved out going connection.
I gave the DIM permission in the firewall, rebooted to make sure but still nothing
Well, I'm stumped. Same OS just diff system specs and I never had a issue from DIM. I got no more ideas.
At times, on some systems, in certain configurations, both DAZ Studio and Install Manager can get "stuck" in a state where they are waiting for the CMS server (Valentina) to respond before they finish their respective loading sequences. We are investigating fixes and/or alternatives... but in the meantime, the following steps should get you past the hang.
1. Stop DAZ Content Management Service
2. Start DAZ Content Management Service
3. Launch Install Manager (or DAZ Studio)

Bit the bullet and did a clean install of WIN7 . . . Problem solved!
I think I've been needing to do this for some time . . .
Installer worked right the first time after the wipe and restore
Thanks, everyone for your advice and help.
Often times, with Windows, problems will accumulate, in the background and won't be evident with the day to day running of most things...but when it comes time to install something big, they will rear their ugly heads and stop you in your tracks. I've always been a firm believer in 'reinstall Windows, once a year' for a very long time. Although, I tend to cheat...and it works well if you've made no hardware changes. Do a fresh install, run all the updates...then image the drive. Then, sometimes I create a second image AFTER I install my most used software....then it's only a matter of a few minutes to go back to that nice, clean, crisp 'fresh install'...
Of course, TEST the image BEFORE you need it...
