IRC or Chat Room?

Is there a DAZ 3D IRC channel or chat room where users can discuss DAZ 3D? Surely there is a faster method than the forums.

None that I know of, but feel free to start your own and invite Dazzers to come along. Is there something in particular you needed help with in the meantime?

I created an IRC channel for discussion about "DAZ 3D" on Freenode.

It is an "about" channel, meaning that it is unofficial and not supported by DAZ's management.

    Server: irc.freenode.net
    Channel: ##daz3d

Please note the double #. Hopefully, we could get community discussions revolving around everything DAZ 3D. :-)

You do realise that DAZ 3D is the Company name, and is a trademark belonging to DAZ 3D. Daz Studio or DS is the program.

No problem since the discussion covers multiple DAZ 3D products, etc. If DAZ 3D (the company) wants domain over the chat room, I will happily relinquish it to them. The sole purpose is to just drive up community support, interest, and involvement. I highly doubt they will be averse to that.

DAZ 3D provide forums for that, they do not provide a chat room. That is their choice.

Unless told otherwise, I am going to assume that you are a moderator and not a part of the DAZ 3D corporate structure. Freenode allows people to create "about" channels without the explicit approval of the underlying organization that the channels are about (TL;DR: It does not violate their TOS). Legally, there is no problem as non-sanctioned venues for discussion are allowed under both the Freedom of Communication and Fair Use Acts without violating copyrights, patents, and/or trademarks so long as the participants in the chat room do not warrent that they are employees or direct representatives thereof to the underlying company.

TL;DR: The chat room will remain; however, I will respect whatever decision is rendered by actual representatives of the company.

I'd be careful, that shillelagh is not just for show lol.

Though I do understand both sides. Though I do understand both sides. Yours is to try another avenue to foster community, chohole is to point out one is already here by Daz 3D (forums) and why poke a bear with a stick and use the companies Corporate name and not the slightly more generic free use software name we use to create the art on “Daz Studio” or “DS”.

All that was said is it is Not provided by DAZ 3D, not that it is not allowed.

Of course. I meant no disrespect.

Its a fine line to be sure. As a fellow business owner, I respect their desire to maintain control over their name. If they wish to exercise domain over the chat room, I have no qualms.
