For some reason my smart content was empty and I could not use anything! I deleted DAZ Studio completely then re-downloaded it and it came back but then it went missing again!

Can someone help?

    1. Missing 'Smart Content' does not necessarily mean there is a problem with your content. In fact most of the time the content is perfectly fine and usable,...but accessed through the Content Library/

    2. Most of the time, when SMC isn't showing, that means the Content Manager service has stopped or you have a corrupted database. Reinstalling isn't really going to fix either of those. Many times when the service stops, something on your operating system side of things is doing it...whether it is a permissions problem or anti-malware, (two most likely causes for stopping it) or something else, you need to check to see if the service is actually running, first.

If it is running, then chances are you have a database problem. Database corruption isn't going to be cleared by a reinstall, mainly because since the database file itself wasn't installed by the installer, it won't uninstall it. So after you reinstall, it will just end up reusing the bad database.

So...what operating system are you using? (Windows and Macs are similar in what you do,but you go about it somewhat differently).

Here's a couple of pages to get you started...

Important to remember: Smart Content view is not a view of your content, it's a view of a database of pointers to your content. Deleting completely and re-downloading will almost certainly not fix this, it isn't a D|S problem, it isn't a content problem, it's a database problem.

Also, not all content is Smart Content, anything that isn't, usually older items or anything not bought from DAZ, will not show in the Smart Content tab. To see everything (or for those times when Smart Content is misbehaving) you need to use the Content Library tab, it has Product and Category views that also rely in the database, but the other views let you see directly the actual files on your computer. (Some people prefer to use this, since the Smart Content database does not work well on every computer. If you're unlucky, and none of the usual fixes work, all you can do is use Content Library.)
